Destination Thailand: Grub for the Family
Posted by Noemi as Destinations, Around The World, Food and Drink, Asia, Cities
I was thinking of what to write for my last post on Thailand and without a doubt, I decided that it would be about the food. Aside from the shopping – indeed I think more than that – the food is one of the best reasons to visit Thailand. All over the world, mention of “Thai food” is enough to make anyone’s mouth water. I have always liked their cuisine – at least based on what I have tried here at home.
As much as I loved Thai food, I didn’t think that it would be that much better when I got there. Boy, was I wrong! Our plane came in around 1 or 2 in …

Destination Thailand: Chatuchak Market
Posted by Noemi as Destinations, Around The World, Asia, Cities
It is probably quite obvious right now that my trip to Thailand captivated me – it is quite true. In the seven days that we were there, we were able to do so many things. One of the most tiring yet fun things that we did was to go shopping. Thailand is actually is a haven for shopaholics. To be honest, I am one of those people who just dislike shopping in general. However, people kept telling us that we should not miss the weekend market in Bangkok. They call it the Chatuchak Market.
So on our first full day there – still tired from the flight and with only 4 hours of sleep – …

What to Pack
Posted by Hannah Grace as Tips, Family
A (not-so) short list of things you should remember to pack when going ANYWHERE. Note that this list covers just the basics so feel free to add to this list when making your own but remember to pack light!
Important Documents - Always bring an ID card (just in case you end up a John Doe…knock on wood) in case anything comes up. When going to another country make sure all travel documents are in order (passports, Visas, medical certifications, insurance papers, etc.).
Essentials - This includes toiletries (just bring one kit for the whole family), an emergency kit (batteries, small flashlight, swiss knife), and a medical kit (all neccessary medications and a small first aid kit).
Clothing - You don’t need to …

Packing Smart
Posted by Hannah Grace as Destinations, Tips, Family
To be able to pack light yet bring all the things you will need on a trip you will need to pack smart. Throwing things together in a hurry just won’t work. So if you don’t want to end up realizing you have forgotten everyone’s undies at home then you’d better make the necessary preparations. Some of the things you will need to consider to be able to pack smart are:
Your destination - Pack according to your destination. If you are going to a beach the bring beachwear. Bring the clothing appropriate to the weather conditions in the place you are headed. This is also true for the supplies. Make sure you bring needed supplies if you are going to …

Packing My (Our) Bags
Posted by Hannah Grace as Family
One thing I didn’t really mind when I was a kid was packing. To me packing simply meant throwing in all my favorite clothes in my bag as well as bringing some of my favorite toys and a good book. It was really easy. But now I realize that it was easy because my mom was the one who really had to pack everything for the family. She packed the toiletries, towels, extra food, and anything else we might need for the trip. In case I forgot something all I needed was to ask my mom if she brought it with her and she almost always did.

Now that I have a family of my own I …

Destination Thailand: Temples in Bangkok
Posted by Noemi as Destinations, Around The World, Asia, Arts & Culture, Cities
Reading about another culture is always a satisfying activity yet it is even more fulfilling to actually see and experience other people’s culture. One of the best (and easiest, actually) things to do in Thailand is to simply go around the city of Bangkok and visit the numerous temples that dot the place. During our trip there, we spent one whole day visiting several temples.
The first one we went to was the Grand Palace which is also host to one of the grandest temples in Bangkok. Unfortunately for us, we were not able to go inside because of the dress code. Thais take their religion very seriously and visitors are not allowed to enter the palace …

Pet Friendly Hotel Policies
Posted by Hannah Grace as Tips, Family
Yesterday I discussed some things you might want to make clear before booking in a “pet-friendly hotel”. Today I will list the usual house rules governing pets. Of course each establishment have their own set of rules so that if you aren’t in agreement with some of the rules here (and you probably will not be) then you’d better clarify with the hotel you plan on staying about each rule you find here.
Disclaimer: The rules mentioned here is to be used as a guide for you and does not represent the specific rules of any hotel.
Pet-friendly usually means that ONLY small dogs, cats and other small animals are allowed in the establishment. If you have any other kind of pet …
