Pet Friendly Accommodations

There are plenty of accommodations nowadays that claim to be pet-friendly. However, the term is used very vaguely and it can mean anything from simply an establishment that allows owners to bring their pets along to one that has plush pet services like pet spas and pet sitters on call. As a pet owner you know the needs of your own pet and you might not need to stay in “the best” pet-friendly hotel/motel but you, of course, want to stay in a place that would be able to cater to your pet(s)’ needs.

Different pets have different needs and different owners have different preferences, so before choosing your accommodations make sure that the place you choose will fit you and your pet’s needs. You would do well to consider the following questions/issues before making any reservations.

1. Your pet’s sleeping arrangements – If your pet sleeps in bed with you ask …

Destination Thailand: Tiger Temple

Thailand is one of the most popular summer destinations for people from all over the world today. This is quite understandable as Thailand has a wide variety of activities that caters to almost any preference imaginable. From city life to the wild to beaches, you can find these in Thailand.

Just a month ago, we went to Bangkok and its surrounding areas. One of my best experiences was a great mixture of the wild and safety – the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi. I actually heard about this place earlier this year while I was watching the National Geographic channel. There was this documentary about monks taking care of tigers somewhere in Thailand. I saw tourists and locals alike petting live tigers and I was thinking, wow that would be quite an experience! That was it – I had decided that one of the …

Hotel Wish List

If you have money to burn, and you have the opportunity to escape to your dream hotel, where would you go? In my case, of course, I will still always go for comfort… you’re not going to get me to pay money to camp out on a bedroll in the ground with no hot water! But that doesn’t mean I’m not up for an adventure. Some of the hotels on my wish list will definitely guarantee an experience to remember! Allow me to share with you my faves. One caveat though, not all of these hotels are kid-friendly. And some of my picks require that I win the lottery first. Oh well, I can dream, can’t I?

Penthouse Suite at Hotel Martinez in Cannes, France – this is one hotel suite that I’ll probably …

Fun and Easy Camping Recipes

I still remember with fondness the numerous times we went camping when I was a kid. Though the memories of the activity are quite vivid, I can barely remember the last date that I went camping. Still, I believe that camping is one activity that the family will enjoy as a whole. One really enjoyable thing about camping is the food. As you are roughing it out, you don’t really have the amenities you have at home. The result? Most of the food is roasted over an open fire! I think that this was the part that I really enjoyed, especially at night. Images of a roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire never fail to evoke something heartwarming. Yet there is more to camping food that hotdogs and marshmallows. Here are some good ideas for your next camping …

Of Babies and Airplanes

Many adults do not really relish staying for hours on the plane. Even more adults (or kids for that matter) dread having to take a plane with a baby on board. Whether or not the baby is theirs, adults know that having these cute little babies can turn a plane ride into a very difficult trip. If you are planning to go on a plane with your baby, here are some tips to make the journey easier on everyone involved.

Start with the booking of your flight. See if the airline can give you the seats that you want. Explain that you have a baby with you – children cannot sit at the emergency exits. Also find out if the airline allows the boarding of people with children first.

Pack wisely for your carry on bag. You think you will need 3 diapers for the …

On The Road With Under Fives

They say that having children is one of the most fulfilling things in life. I believe that, but I have always thought that having them would also curtail many privileges that I am enjoying today. One of those would be traveling. How am I supposed to discover the rest of the world if I had a 4 year-old to lug around with me? My question was answered when I read the experiences of countless families who have traveled to far flung places with their under fives. For families with a similar setup, here is some good news for your summer trip.

The travel industry is giving special attention to the needs of families with babies and toddlers. As such, it is not that difficult to travel with your kids anymore. Though traveling with them is of course still a challenge, the amenities and perks …

Tips For Booking Flights Online Part 2

Yesterday, I started posting tips for booking flights online. I had to cut it short because my post was getting too long. As promised, here’s the rest of the tips:

If you have connecting flights, check the times, as well as the airport. There have been cases where passengers missed their connecting flight because the time in between flights wasn’t enough. Generally, you should have at least 30 minutes to 1 hour for domestic flights, and 1-2 hours for international. But take into account the airlines as well. If you’re traveling with different carriers, you might have to check-in your …

Pet-Friendly and Child-Friendly

Planning a family trip requires more preparation than planning a romantic getaway, after all you need to consider your kids AND your pets.

The choice of accommodations is one aspect that is really hard to organize, especially if your child has special needs and your pet is not that common or is plain big. The ideal place to stay is of course an establishment that welcomes children and pets and at the same time actually offers facilities and services that will make the stay more enjoyable not only for the kids and the animals but you as well. However, places like these are not always that easy to find. While it is true that more establishments now have child and pet-friendly policies sometimes you still need to really check out whether these policies are more than just face value.

In fact more often than not a “pet-friendly hotel” simply means that the …

Baby-proof Your Hotel Room

Traveling with children is not easy, we know that. Yet imagine traveling with children under the age of 5! That would even be harder, wouldn’t it? However, a lot of people have done it (and are doing it) so why can’t you? Here are a few tips to help you handle hotel rooms and your babies.

For starters, you have to make sure that the hotel you are going to has taken steps to consider the needs of and precautions for toddlers. If they haven’t, there isn’t really much that you can do to baby-proof the hotel room. So from the beginning, ask the hotel staff about such matters.

Next, you might want to bring along some essentials (aside from the milk and diapers). Safety aids such as outlet covers, latches, tape, rubber bands, and any other thing you may think of would be handy.

Once …
