Food and Wine: Go List 2007

Go List 2007Who says that traveling is all about the sights and sounds? Anyone who loves great food knows that a good trip includes at least one great meal. No. That wasn’t right. It includes one excellent unforgettable meal. After you’ve forgotten the name of the streets you’ve visited the taste of that one glorious meal still lingers in your memory.

If you understand what I’m saying then finding a worthy place to eat is as important as finding all the tourist attractions in the area. One of the easiest, and a favorite way of mine, to find out the best place to eat is by visiting Food and …

California Dreamin’: Yosemite

California has a lot to offer. From the sprawling cities of the Pacific coast, to the cool and serene atmosphere of the Bay area, it’s clear that the Golden State has all the bases covered. Aside from man-made wonders, California also pulls its weight when it comes to national wonders.

Yosemite National Park is a vast expanse of more than 750,000 acres of breath-taking rock formations, lush greenery, water falls and other inspiring sights. It is found largely Mariposa and Tuolumne counties - a perfect detour for people passing through Fresno or Sacramento. The elevation is highly variable throughout the entire park. In some areas, the ground is 2,000 feet above see level. In other places, the number soars to …

How To Choose The Right Hotel

Tourism has become a viable industry for many countries. The world is quickly becoming more cosmopolitan and countries more open to foreigners. These days, travel is becoming increasingly affordable. Hotels and resorts have joined the fun, coming up with discounts and special rates for travelers. And nowadays, even the smallest towns can usually boast of one or two hotel. With the prevalence of hotels and other types of lodging, there are several factors you might want to consider when choosing your lodging (aside from budget, of course), especially if it’s your first time to stay in that location. Here are some suggestions:
• If you have a friend or a relative in that area, get suggestions …

Home Swap/Home Exchange Facts

While doing research on home exchange I was really surprised at how widespread it apparently is. After looking at various listings though I was a bit disappointed at the number of “home exchangers” who were actually simply looking for vacationers that would rent their beach houses and other luxury properties. Anyway, here’s what I found out about home swaps.

1. Home swaps are supposed to be free. While websites might exact a price for you to be able to post listings or even just view them there should be no money exchanged between the vacationers.
2. There are plenty of posers out there. To avoid people who are just trying to reel you into renting their property here’s some things that will …

In Search Of Vino

It’s the start of autumn, and the days are starting to get shorter and colder. The trees are ready to shed their leaves, gifting us with a brilliant display of colors before they part. Best of all, Fall is the season of harvest, and food and wine harvest festivals are sprouting up all over the northern hemisphere. If you’re a food and wine connoisseur, or, like me, just an ordinary human who lives to eat and drink, this season holds a lot of great travel opportunities for you.

Fall is usually the start of wine harvests in the U.S. and in Europe. I don’t know about you, but …

Swapping Homes

After reading Camica’s post about Women Welcome Women WorldWide (5W), I remembered this blog I stumbled upon sometime last year - Travel the Home Exchange Way (called Home Exchange Travel before). The blog exposed me to a whole new way of vacationing.

Staying with another family during vacations is nothing new. In fact people have stayed with family and friends, or even friends of friends, since time immemorial. What is not so common is vacationing in the home of an almost stranger - an acquaintance. After all this requires not only hospitality but a huge level of trust. This is why 5W …

Visiting The Georgia Aquarium

My kids love the ocean. They love the smell of it, swimming in it, and if they can live in it (like Ariel), they probably would. In fact, my eldest, who’s 7, announced her plans to be a marine biologist when she grows up, after a trip to the local aquarium. It’s a trait most kids, and even adults, share, this love for the water and the fascination for the creatures dwelling in it. So if you’re ideal vacation is spending time near the water, with loads of learning for the kids as well, why not try visiting your local …
