More Ways To Discover Nearby Cities On A Budget
Posted by Noemi as Cities, Destinations, Tips

In the last post, I suggested either walking tours or bus tours as great ways to discover cities. They are not only cheap but they can also add a different flavor to your trip.
Another way to discover hidden sights and treasures in the city of your destination is to make full use of your concierge – or the people at the front desk. The chances are that these people will know the city by heart. They will also be used to dealing with people and ideally, they will be more than helpful to help you have a wonderful time in their city. Of course, discretion is required as you never know, some hotel staff may try to promote certain places and activities because they have a cut off the whole deal.

Posted by Noemi as Cities, Destinations, Family, Tips

We’ve said it time and again – going on vacation does not have to be expensive, even for the whole family. One of the things that you can do on a tight budget is to visit a nearby city and discover it for yourselves. I bet that if you took a look at the map, you would see a lot of cities within a couple of hours’ drive from where you live. More so, you probably have not really explored each and every one of them.
So why not consider visiting a nearby city sometime soon and consider that a short vacation for the family? Here are some things you can do if you do decide to go on a city adventure.

The Quest For The Perfect Hotel (Part 2)
Posted by Noemi as Family, Tips

In the previous post, we took a look at a couple of things you can consider when choosing a hotel for your family vacation. Here are a couple more.
Identify your special needs, if any.
Each family is different. Some families may have needs that may not be considered needs by others. For example, for you may consider a separate crib for the baby an essential thing. For other families, this would not be a problem as they are fine with sleeping on the bed with the baby. What you should do before looking at hotels is to list down everything that you consider essential. I suggest that you list everything down – do not discount anything just because you take it for granted. Keep the list handy when inquiring about the hotel’s facilities and services. Do …

The Quest For The Perfect Hotel

Looking for accommodations is one of the most important things when it comes to traveling with the family. If you were traveling alone or only with your spouse, minor “errors” in choosing the hotel would be easier to deal with. When it comes to the whole family, however, making a mistake in choosing a hotel could spell the difference between an ideal vacation and a disastrous one.
I have come to realize that choosing a hotel is really dependent on many factors. One of the foremost considerations that you should think of is the time that you plan on spending together – the whole family. This is because many hotels are now “family-friendly” and offer a lot of services that would get the kids out of the parents’ hands for the duration of the vacation. This is …

Traveling While On The Family Way
Posted by Noemi as Family, Health, People, Tips

One of the main reasons I do not want to get pregnant is my fear that I might not be able to travel as much as I do now. That line may be too personal for some of you but I thought that it might strike a chord in some other women. Men might not really get it, but while being pregnant does not make one an invalid, it can get in the way of some things.
However, as many of my mom friends have told me, traveling does not necessarily have to be put off just because you are in the family way. It depends on the stage of the pregnancy, of course, but a pregnant woman can still go on a vacation under the right circumstances! It might mean a little more planning than normal but …

Last Skiing Trip For The Year
Posted by Noemi as Americas, Around The World, Destinations, Family, Nature, Resorts, Tips

For some families, hitting the slopes during the winter period is the best way of bonding together. There is nothing to compare to the adrenaline rush that one experiences going down the slopes and at night, warm, cozy rooms at the lodges are something to look forward to. For these families, the coming of spring could be a disappointment in this respect.
However, there is still a bit of time to sneak in a last skiing trip before the season ends for the year. Here are a few of the ski resorts that stay open till May.
Sunshine Village
Located near Banff in the Canadian Rockies, this ski resort stays open till the 19th of May. They offer several packages that offer a lot of savings for the whole family. Expect spectacular views and amazing terrain.

Of course, you should be prepared to pay a bit for the airplane tickets but that’s about it. Once you get to your destination, you will feel like a king. How so? Many countries in Asia have currencies that are weaker than the dollar. Everything is comparative, of course. Take the Philippines, for example. …

Are you thinking that with the dollar plunging down the way it is, you cannot afford to go on a vacation anytime soon? Well, you couldn’t be more wrong! Despite the recession and the weak dollar, your family can still enjoy a vacation somewhere really nice! All you need is to find the right destination where you can still get a bang for your buck.Is A Vacation Possible With A Recession? (Part 2)

In the last post, we focused on trying to find a destination closer to home for family vacations. This would certainly cut the cost of your vacation. Here are other ideas you might want to consider as you plan for your family vacation this year.
What I mean is to avoid going on vacation during the peak season. This could pose a problem if you are quite limited when it comes to time. However, as much as possible, don’t go on vacation when everyone else is taking one. We all know when the peak seasons are – holiday weekends, spring break, school breaks, and the like. If at all possible, try to plan your vacation ahead of time and avoid the holiday rush. You would be surprised at how much you can …
Is A Vacation Possible With The Recession?

With all the talk about the recession everywhere, I know that the last thing you are probably going to worry about is whether or not you can afford to go on a vacation with the family. Then again, it just might be one of the things on your list – and why not? Going on a yearly family vacation is an important thing and many families make it a tradition to spend quality time together each year away from home. Broadway
If you have extra cash to spare and you like the theater, then Broadway should not be missed. Some say that you have never really seen what a play has to offer unless you’ve seen it in Broadway. This point is debatable but the fact is that a Broadway experience is really something else. Of course, you have to be ready to pay for that experience – tickets can easily cost over a hundred dollars, even for discounted ones! Alternatively, you can pick from New York’s countless theaters if you cannot afford Broadway – don’t fret, many of use can’t! Theaters abound in New York and you can watch a good play for less than $50.
