Weekend Trip To Niagara Falls
Posted by Noemi as Destinations, Around The World, Americas, Family

Though it is not quite the time to go on vacation yet, who is to hinder you from taking a quick trip this month? Personally, I like taking short trips every now and then in order to get away from the stresses of every day life. This benefits everyone in the family and gives each member a boost of energy to get them going.
One destination that would be perfect for a weekend trip is the Niagara Falls. Of course, this would only be feasible if you live relatively near the area. Then again, if you have extra funds, you can always hop on a plane for the weekend …

Do you have a teenager who is a huge fan of American Idol? Are you still planning on what he or she can do for the summer? Well here is something different and exciting – the American Idol Summer Camp, which was launched last year, is going to be held once again this year and the next.
What is the Camp all about? Last year’s Camp was full of activities for children aged 10 to 15 years old. The concept of the Camp is to bring children together in a non-competitive environment (much unlike the popular TV show) and help them learn techniques with regard to “singing, …

Do you place a lot of weight on education? I sure do! That is why I was really excited when I read a post on Boots N All about audio books for kids and how they can be used to quell boredom on long trips.
Perhaps you have heard of Audible, which is one of the biggest audio books companies. They have a special section for kids called – surprise! – AudibleKids. From this site, you can download a wide variety of audio books that can keep your children amused while on the road.
I am sure that you have had your share of tough road …

Gutsy Mamas: Travel Tips and Wisdom for Mothers on the Road
Posted by Noemi as Books, Family

“It has always taken courage, stamina, and self-sacrifice to be a mother, and this is especially true in our hectic modern world. Indeed, bearing a child and giving birth are the very definition of gutsy. As a woman, it also takes guts to travel boldly…”
These are the opening sentences of the book by Marybeth Bond, with the same title as this post. I ran across a preview of the book on Google Book Search and before I knew it, I had spent a considerable time reading it. In celebration of Mother’s Day – albeit a late one – I thought of featuring the book in this blog …

Choosing The Right Sunscreen Lotion
Posted by Noemi as Health & Wellness, Tips

As you have read in my previous post, we have just arrived from a trip to the beach. I have always known that sunscreen is an important item that I should always have when I go to the beach. But with all the products in the market today, how do you choose which one to use? Questions such as “Can the children use the same sunscreen lotion as the ones that we adults use?” should have a clear answer in order to ensure a hassle free vacation. (A severely sunburned child – or parent for that matter - can put an end to your vacation, as you may very well know.)
So …

We just came back from a short summer trip where we discovered a great beach for families. The resort is called Tamaraw Beach Resort and it can be found in the Puerto Galera, off the coast of Batangas in the Philippines. Puerto Galera used to be the destination for many beach lovers until it became overcrowded. That is why we were pleasantly surprised with what awaited us at Tamaraw Beach.
Their accommodations have been designed to suit family needs – the rooms are huge and can fit up to 6 people (at least our room did). They also have family apartments that can fit 10 …

Multi-Family Travel
Posted by Noemi as Tips, Family

Think back to the time when you were a childless couple. Perhaps this would have been the first few years of your marriage. Did you love to travel then? Probably. When you traveled, who did you travel with? Did you go on your own or did you go with other friends?
I am sure that you had vacations wherein it was just the two of you – the classic romantic getaway. Yet I am also sure that there were times when you preferred traveling with other people – single friends or couples. This could have been for various reasons. For one, it could be a lot …

Stay Safe At The Beach (Part 2)
Posted by Noemi as Destinations, Tips, Family, Resorts

Several more days and we’ll be on our way to the beach! While waiting for that, let’s take a look at a few more beach safety tips.
Make sure that you stick to the designated swimming areas
Not all parts of beaches are safe for swimming. It would help if you chose a beach where majority of the area is safe for swimming. If you take the family to a beach where there are designated swimming areas, make sure that you emphasize the importance of staying at these areas. Taking it a step further, it would be best to keep a close eye on the children. Though they may be obedient …

Though it is far from summer yet, some families are already heading off to beaches in the tropical parts of the world. At any time of the year, there is always somewhere to go if your family gets a hankering for the beach. In less than a week, actually, we are going to hit the beach for several days of R & R. I thought it would be timely to share some safety tips that I have come up with. I sure will be applying these tips during our short vacation.
