Airlines To Add Surcharge During Peak Season
Posted by Noemi as Air Travel, Trends, United States
I think it’s a load of c**p, but is there anything that we can do? From what I have been reading, it seems that airlines are going to be adding a fee to ticket prices for flights on the busiest days of the year. This means that those who are planning on going on a trip at Christmas and similar holidays will have to cough up more money.
Travelers looking to fly on the busiest days of the year will see new sky-high prices on airfare, after multiple airlines decided to add a new $10 surcharge for popular travel dates this winter.
American Airlines first created the surcharge for domestic flights for the Sunday following Thanksgiving and the weekend of Jan. 2-3-, the dates during which many Americans will be returning home from Christmas and New …

India’s Festival Season Begins: Good Travel Deals On Offer!
Posted by Noemi as Asia, Destinations, Festivals, Tips, Trends
India is home to some of the best attractions in the world. Some of the world’s nicest beaches, the Taj Mahal, and of course, their numerous festivals attract countless visitors year in and year out. And speaking of festivals, this season is right around the corner. As such, this is one of the best times to travel to India!
Contrary to what you might expect, there are actually good deals to be found during this season. More often than not, you would expect hotels to jack up their prices during peak season, right? The good news is that many hotels in the country are actually offering lower prices, especially for package deals. The Hindu Business Online reports:
“Average room rates have declined by approximately 30 per cent. However, the decline at leisure hotels has not been that …

Travel Deals For The Expecting Couple
Posted by Noemi as News, Tips, Website
No, we are definitely NOT expecting, but I can just imagine how difficult it will be for new parents to continue with their “traveling lifestyle” a year or so after their child is born. There are so many things to consider; aside from the obvious fact that they have a baby to think about (you can hardly go trekking up a river with a months-old baby!), money can be quite tight. For those who are expecting the stork to drop off that package in the next few months or so, you might want to take that trip – it might be the last one you’ll be taking in the next year or so.
Luckily for couples in this situation, there is such a thing as a “babymoon deal.” Truth be told, I only discovered this by accident, through Travel …

Places Every American Should Visit
Posted by Noemi as Destinations, Features, Historical, United States
We all have a list of destinations that we would like to go to “before we die.” This kind of list is quite popular, isn’t it? I do agree with Laura McNeil of Bing Travel, when she said that most people tend to identify locations outside of their native land. I suppose it is because far away lands are more attractive than the “ordinary-ness” of local destinations. There is no doubt, however, that there are destinations within your own country which are just as interesting and meaningful as foreign destinations.
Let’s take a look at the United States, McNeil identified 8 locations that every American should visit. Can you guess what they are?
1. Sears Tower (Willis Tower) – yeah, it has a new name, and it seems no one is used to it yet, but the fact …

U.S. Senate Passes Travel Bill
Posted by Noemi as News, United States
Traveling to the United States has always been a somewhat difficult thing, especially for those who come from developing countries. I suppose that the restrictions that the US government has set in place is but understandable in light of how a lot of people try to enter and stay in the country illegally. Still, it can be quite a pain for those who are actually wanting to travel for the sole purpose of enjoying themselves and staying temporarily.
With the recent move of the U.S. Senate, people interested in traveling to the country just might find things a little bit easier. Dubbed the Travel Promotion Act of 2009, the bill is co-sponsored by Democrats Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka. It establishes a nonprofit corporation whose aim is to promote travel to the United States. Whether it is …

The Rise Of The “Greycationers”
Posted by Noemi as Europe, Health & Wellness, Trends
I love language! It really is not a static thing, but it shifts and evolves with time. Take the word vacation; only recently, another word was created out of it – staycation, for vacations that are spent in the vicinity of a person’s hometown or city. Now, we have another word: greycationer. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that the word refers to people aged 50 and above, who spend a lot of time traveling.
The trend is actually gaining ground in Europe. Experts in the travel industry say that this greycationer trend is a result of the “massive influx of baby-boomers who grew up in the 1960s. After redefining youth culture, they are now making their mark on older age.”
Travel agencies and tour operators are now tweaking their offerings to cater to …

Sideways Seating For Short Flights?
Posted by Noemi as Air Travel, Backpacking & Budget, News
With operating costs going nowhere but up, airlines are continually on the look out for ways to save them on money. One of those things is to pack more passengers in each airplane. Of course, you can only put so many seats in a given space. To solve this problem, a British design company has come up with a new design for airplane seating. Take a look at this.

So how about sitting sideways? I honestly think it looks cheap and scary. It looks something like a bus – not that buses are always scary, but to actually fly tens of thousands of feet up in the air on those flimsy looking seats is something else.
I saw this photo over at Flight Global, which reports:
Design Q’s preliminary image, revealed to the world for the first time …
