All Hallow’s Eve. It’s the night of spooks and haunts, magic and mayhem! What better place to celebrate the magic of Halloween than in the famous Magic Castle, one of the most famous magic clubs in the world. Located in Hollywood, California, it hosts nightly performances by the world’s finest magicians. You can watch five different magic shows, and even listen to a piano-playing ghost named Irma who takes requests. The first room of the Castle has no visible doors, and one must say “Open sesame” to an owl to gain access, exposing the entrance to the club. The Magic Castle is housed in an authentic Victorian mansion that was originally built in 1908. It’s home to the Academy of Magical Arts (AMA), an organization devoted to the advancement of the art of magic and its history.
However, the Magic Castle is a private club; only members and their guests are admitted in to attend the club’s performances, though courtesy invitations can be obtained by magicians visiting from out of town. If you want to experience the full magical experience this Halloween, why not stay at the Magic Castle Hotel, an affiliate of Magic Castle. Guests of the hotel can get dinner reservations and are permitted inside the Magic Castle. You’ll also get a chance to dress up since a strict dress code (coat and tie for men, cocktail attire for women) is enforced. For families with kids, you’ll have to schedule your visit since minors are only allowed during Sunday brunch. You won’t have to worry about the lack of activities, though. It’s located just two blocks from Grauman’s Chinese Theater subway stop, Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Kodak Theater, and Universal Studios is just one subway stop away.
Happy Halloween!
