The Maryland Wine Festival

I was really surprised to find out that Maryland has its own wine festival. My husband is from this state and he has never once mentioned the wine festival. I know about their crabs, Ocean City, the mountains, the railroad, etc., but I didn’t have the vaguest idea that there is actually a celebrated wine festival in the area. For someone who likes wine (though I don’t know all that much about it), this is good news indeed. And for those of you in the east coast, then here is another festival that you should not miss.

This year’s wine festival is already over but they are already planning next year’s celebrations. The Maryland Wine Festival is held at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster, Carroll County. Next year’s festival is slated for September 19 and 20.

More information on the festival from the web site:

The admission price of $20.00 for adults 21 and older with I.D. entitles ticket holders to a logo-engraved wine glass, samples of Maryland wines, attendance at the Wine Education Seminars, continuous on-stage entertainment, guided tours of the Museum’s 19th Century Farmhouse, and self-guided tours of period artisan exhibits and demonstrations. Those aged 7-20 are admitted for $5, and children 6 and under are admitted free if accompanied by a paying adult.

More than the wine itself, visitors can experience treats that the area has to offer. Food, crafts, and more – all these are on offer during the festival. If I were you, I would block of those two days next year.
