Best Places To Go For Thrills

I am a very mild mannered person who does not go out seeking adventure on a daily basis. Indeed, when I travel, I want to be as comfortable as I can afford to be. I do know, however, that there are a lot of people who can’t get enough of an adrenaline rush. If you are one of those people, then you better check out Lonely Planet’s new book – 1000 Ultimate Experiences. Baguio, Philippines: New Adventure Destination

Baguio City in the Philippines is known as the country’s Summer Capital. This city was founded by the Americans during their stay in the country, and is located on a mountain. The weather is pretty cool, making it the perfect destination when one yearns to get away from the heat and humidity of the lowlands.
Now, the city government and the Baguio Convention and Visitors Bureau (BCVB) are working in tandem to promote the city as a new adventure destination. The Philippine Information Agency reports:
“We will be promoting Baguio, not as the usual tourist destination, but as a place where people (tourists) has a lot other things to do, where adventure begins,” De Leon said.

Why Travel For New Year’s Eve?

I thought I’d put in one more post before the year ends – and before we hit the road, with no certainty of getting a good connection to the Internet on New Year’s Eve. I just realized that I am taking for granted that we SHOULD travel for New Year. It’s just that I don’t get that many days off at work and the last 2 weeks in December is usually the only free time that I have. So why travel for the New Year? Care To Spend A Night At The “Zero Star” Hotel?

While the rest of the world tries to out-compete one another in creating a hotel with the highest possible star rating, two brothers from Switzerland have set up a hotel with a ZERO STAR rating. I can just imagine how austere this kind of hotel would be.
According Frank and Patrik Riklin, who are by the way twin artists, the hotel was originally an art project. They wanted to make use of a nuclear bunker, of which there are many in the country. Chasing The Storm

The last time that we had a storm, I was kept up all night by the howling winds and my husband’s screams of delight. He was out there in the balcony watching the winds batter the trees, reveling in the sound of the thunder, and enjoying the rain on his face. Tourists May Get To See Iraq Soon

It used to be that Iraq was definitely NOT part of people’s travel plans. It is a pity because Iraq, like many countries in the Middle East, has a lot to offer in terms of tourism. It is thus good news that pretty soon, maybe, most people from all over the world may be able to visit Iraq and experience its wonders for themselves.
