How To Sleep In An Igloo

Want to experience something unique? Check out Sweden’s Ice Hotel. Located in the shores of Torne river in the village of Jukkasjarvi, Swedish Lapland, it’s just 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The Ice Hotel is built from scratch every year, with a team of snowbuilders, architects, designers and artists from all over the world contributing to the creation of the Ice Hotel. It’s one of the most environmentally friendly hotels, since the material used for its construction is the ice and snow supplied by Mother Nature via the Torne …

Have a Nickelodeon Family Adventure – The Mall
Posted by Noemi as Family, Hotels, Resorts, Spa, Travelogger, United States

NickHotel has more than water fun to offer the whole family. Though some people may not agree with me, shopping is always inherent to vacations. Trust me, I am not the type to go gaga over shopping. We have countless malls within 30 minutes of our house but I rarely go to one of them unless I have something that I really need. Yet when we go on vacations, I just can’t shake off the feeling to go shopping. Yeah I know, a sucker for tourist traps, perhaps. Anyhow, at the NickHotel, you can take your children shopping and let them have tons of fun while you are at it.

Have a Nickelodeon Family Adventure – Water Parks
Posted by Noemi as Around The World, Destinations, Family, Hotels, Resorts, Travelogger, United States

I have never heard of a kid who doesn’t like Nickelodeon, have you? I am not that “old” and I still remember wanting to watch TV during the weekends to see the Nickelodeon shows. I gather that things haven’t changed much for the kids of today. So how about taking the family to a Nickelodeon getaway?
Holiday Inn has just joined the bandwagon and has partnered up with Nickelodeon by transforming the Holiday Inn Family Suites Resort in Lake Buena Vista into the Nickelodeon Family Suites. I am sure, though, that you and your kids would want to refer to this new resort as NickHotel – the promise of paradise for your children.

I Give You Six Stars!
Most hotels operate by the star system. A 3-star hotel is usually okay while a 5-star hotel is excellent. However, there are other hotels that claim or have been given the honor of a 6-star merit. While the additional star normally measures energy efficiency or water efficiency of electrical appliances, and in some fields of construction and engineering; this excess star is now being used to determine operations as well. And while there are hundreds of 5-star hotels around the world, only a few truly deserve one more star. Among these few is the St. Regis Shanghai Hotel in China.

Your wish is my command…
The hotel is exactly as its name implies. Elegant …

Playing “Tree” House
Posted by Jen as Asia, Getaways, Hotels, Nature, Resorts, Spa
Me, Jane.
You, Tarzan.
Well, in China’s Sanya Nanshan Treehouse Resort and Beach Club, I suppose such an arrangement is negotiable.
This beautiful hideaway has four tree houses for vacation rentals. Set atop Tamarind trees, they offer a great view of the ocean. Nearby is a 5,000-acre Buddhist and ecological theme park composed of lovely temples, rich pagodas and botanical gardens.
Before you write this off as a vacation spot only adventurers would appreciate, take a closer look. The tree houses here aren’t quite like the ones back home.

Hotel Wish List
Posted by Camica as Around The World, Destinations, Family, Hotels, Luxurious, Resorts, Travelogger
If you have money to burn, and you have the opportunity to escape to your dream hotel, where would you go? In my case, of course, I will still always go for comfort… you’re not going to get me to pay money to camp out on a bedroll in the ground with no hot water! But that doesn’t mean I’m not up for an adventure. Some of the hotels on my wish list will definitely guarantee an experience to remember! Allow me to share with you my faves. One caveat though, not all of these hotels are kid-friendly. And some of my picks require that I win the lottery first. Oh well, …

Pet-Friendly and Child-Friendly
Posted by Hannah Grace as Family, Hotels
Planning a family trip requires more preparation than planning a romantic getaway, after all you need to consider your kids AND your pets.
The choice of accommodations is one aspect that is really hard to organize, especially if your child has special needs and your pet is not that common or is plain big. The ideal place to stay is of course an establishment that welcomes children and pets and at the same time actually offers facilities and services that will make the stay more enjoyable not only for the kids and the animals but you as well. However, places like these are not always that easy to find. While it is true that more establishments now have child and pet-friendly …
