This post is a special one for our readers in Europe. I remember posting something about a UK Easter vacation but that was specifically for the UK only – here’s something that covers the other parts of the continent, thanks to TravelSuperMart.
European city break – The abundance of no-frills airlines means that travel to Europe’s top cities can sometimes be cheaper than staying in the UK! Flights to cities such as Rome, Berlin or Prague can be found for bargain basement prices. We found a return flight to Berlin over the Easter weekend for just £28pp using our flight finder. Accommodation is also available for less than you might think.
Easter Sun – You don’t have to travel to the Caribbean to find guaranteed sunshine this Easter. The Canaries and Balearics offer year round sunshine and temperatures that will make …

Easter Holidays in the UK
Posted by Noemi as Cities, Cruises, Destinations, Europe, Family, Festivals, Getaways, Hotels, Transport

In the last post, I wrote about some Easter vacation ideas for families in the US. Of course, the US isn’t the only country that celebrates this holiday – our cousins across the ocean do so as well! Here are some great holiday ideas in the UK. Whether you live in Britain or not, it is always worth traveling to that part of the world for a break.
Tour the countryside in a camper van
You do not need to own one in order to do this – there are plenty of camper van rentals all throughout the UK. The best thing about renting a camper van is that you get to explore the land without having to pay extra for the lodging! I think one of the best places to roam around in a …

Volunteer for the Animals
Posted by Jen as Eco-Friendly, Europe, Travelogger
One of the best ways to help save the environment is to become a volunteer. In the Zoological Society in London (ZSL) Zoo, they are in need of just that. In fact, they have just opened up applications for anyone who is over 18 and wants to discover a different side of life. In ZSL, there are many ways in which people can volunteer.
* Learning Volunteers basically welcome and interact with the visitors, making sure they’re having a grand time.
*Outreach Support Volunteers assist in visiting London schools and caring for the bunch of outreach animals.
*Library Volunteers have the best access to the ZSL library which is the world’s finest and most extensive zoological library.
*Office Volunteers get to work at different ZSL departments.
*IT Volunteers are also needed in ZSL so people who know their way around computer programs should find themselves right at home here.
Who says you can’t …

Visit the Zoological Society in London Zoo
Posted by Jen as Eco-Friendly, Europe, Travelogger

There cannot be enough animal conservation and protection charities in this world. I have recently discovered the existence of the Zoological Society in London (ZSL). Although this organization has been around for ages, many people all over the world (especially those who do not exactly live in Europe) have not heard about it.
I have a soft spot for animals so it always excites me to share something like this with you. The ZSL Zoo is located near Regent’s Park London, England and is open everyday except for Christmas Day. It’s not an easy feat to maintain a zoo so this one automatically deserves a thumbs up and a pat on the back (I should know. Where I come from, zoos don’t exactly thrive).
And just to make sure everything is clear: Visitors below 16 years old will not be admitted without an adult. Since the ZSL is raising …

A Dab of Dublin
Posted by Jen as Cities, Europe, Travelogger
The name Dublin is derived from the words “Duhb” and “Linn.” It came about during 836 when the Vikings first anchored their mighty ships in Dublin Bay and built their trading post nearby a black pool called “Duhb Linn” by the local Irish people. Following the Vikings were the Anglo-Normans and the English. With such a strong medieval bunch having settled in Dublin for centuries, it is no wonder that they left quite a legacy.

One of what promises to be the most memorable stops is Dublinia. Located next to Christ Church, it is a living memorial to the middle ages. There are clothing stalls which allow guests to try on medieval clothing! I would think that this is one place where it would be quite appropriate to wear a maiden’s gown or a chain mail. There are also pie stalls and medicine tents. What better time …

Holiday Treat: Turkey Anyone?
Posted by Hannah Grace as Around The World, Asia, Destinations, Europe, Features
Thanksgiving is just a month away and I can’t wait to eat the thanksgiving dinner my sister’s going to cook for us. I’m sure the turkey will be really good. Yum! I’m not really going to write about the thanksgiving feast though I will be emailing my sister to ask what else will be on the menu right after I finish writing this piece. Since this is Travelogger, quite obviously, the holiday turkey I am referring to is not the animal but the country.
Turkey is rising in popularity as a tourist destination, a perfect place to relax while enjoying nature and immersing oneself in its rich culture. Two of the most popular tourist destinations in Turkey are Istanbul and the Antalya province. A visit to Istanbul, the capital city of Ottoman Empire, is a treat for those who …

Stay Out! Most Dangerous Places to Travel continued
Posted by Hannah Grace as Africa, Around The World, Destinations, Europe, Tips, Warnings
Lebanon – The August hostilities with Israel is over (for now), however extremists groups make Tripoli, Sidon and Palestinian refugee camps dangerous. In the southern part of Lebanon land mines are still a big problem.
Liberia – Despite the fact that the civil war in Lebanon ended 4 years ago and that there are still 15,000 UN peacekeepers scattered all over Lebanon, it is still considered to be too dangerous for tourists since crimes like theft, sexual assault and murder is still commonplace.
Sudan – If you really want to go to Sudan at least stay away from Darfur. Darfur is not safe for locals much less tourists where violence is an everyday thing thanks to the government-backed militias. As for the rest of Sudan there are terrorist attacks every now and then. Caucasians are also considered a prime target for kidnappings.
Côte d’Ivoire – The north and northwest …

In Search Of Vino
Posted by Camica as Americas, Around The World, Eco-Friendly, Europe, Events, Festivals, Food and Drink, Gourmet, Travelogger, United States

It’s the start of autumn, and the days are starting to get shorter and colder. The trees are ready to shed their leaves, gifting us with a brilliant display of colors before they part. Best of all, Fall is the season of harvest, and food and wine harvest festivals are sprouting up all over the northern hemisphere. If you’re a food and wine connoisseur, or, like me, just an ordinary human who lives to eat and drink, this season holds a lot of great travel opportunities for you.
Fall is usually the start of wine harvests in the U.S. and in Europe. I don’t know about you, but one of my to-do lists is to experience an actual grape harvesting. This little romantic dream of mine I can definitely attribute to that scene in a Keanu Reeves …
