Unique Vacations
Posted by Noemi as Adventure, Around The World, Destinations, Festivals, Food and Drink

Are you tired of the “regular” vacations that you always have? Don’t get me wrong, I really love going to beach and become a normal beach bum for a week. I’d also love to go to the mountains and relax like any other person. Sometimes, though, I get this hankering to do something weird. Aside from the experience itself, you get to have unique stories to tell your friends. I read this article at the Ottawa Citizen which details some of the most unique vacations that you can have. Let’s take a look at them.

The date of the race is fast approaching and even if it is still several months away, it seems that anyone planning on going to Singapore that weekend should be prepared to pay a hefty price. I did not buy tickets – for the plane, hotel, and race – last month when I first posted an entry on the night race because I was not sure if my finances could handle it. Now that September is looming nearer, I decided to check out the prices yet again to see if something could be done.
I shouldn’t have been surprised, really. As with any other event, the closer …

Here’s the last installment for this series. I am sure that those of you who are thinking of going to Beijing for the Summer Olympics have your own list of things to do and see as well as tips to make one’s stay more pleasurable. Here are the last items on my list.
Don’t use up all your energy during the day
The chances are that you would not be spending all your time watching Olympic events – that is, unless you have enough funds to buy tickets to all of them OR get passes for several days. In any case, my suggestion is NOT to focus solely on the Olympics. Beijing …

Here are more things for your to consider as you plan your own trip to Beijing this summer.
Discover the city on public transportation
If you are on a budget, this may very well be your best option. Renting a car for the duration of your stay may be convenient but costly. Beijing’s public transportation system is quite efficient so it is not really a hassle. More so, it comes dirt cheap! It seems that the bus system around the city is very reliable and buses go everywhere. The price? About 1 yuan to 6 yuan, depending on the distance. They also have a metro which …

Travel Tips For The Beijing Olympics (Part 2)
Posted by Noemi as Asia, Cities, Festivals

In the last post, we took a look at the alternative ways of getting to Beijing. As you saw, it is not necessary for you to go straight there – you can take detours that may actually save you some money or at the very least, enhance your experience. This time, let us look at the accommodations.
For sure, the accommodations will be quite expensive around the time of the Olympics. This is actually one of my biggest concerns. I might not be able to afford decent accommodations at that time. Based on my research, I have narrowed down my choices to two options – one is to stay …

So if you fall under the second category, what options do you have for a Spring Break vacation this year?
About.com tells us that Orlando is actually the number 1 destination for families for Spring Break. I don’t know where they got the numbers …
