Update on the Singapore F1 Night Race

The date of the race is fast approaching and even if it is still several months away, it seems that anyone planning on going to Singapore that weekend should be prepared to pay a hefty price. I did not buy tickets – for the plane, hotel, and race – last month when I first posted an entry on the night race because I was not sure if my finances could handle it. Now that September is looming nearer, I decided to check out the prices yet again to see if something could be done.
I shouldn’t have been surprised, really. As with any other event, the closer …

Thanksgiving In Plymouth
Posted by Camica as Americas, Around The World, Destinations, Events, Historical

Thanksgiving is one of America’s favorite holidays, and the official start of the holiday season. Thanksgiving is also a long weekend, something which overworked folks in need of rest always look forward to. This Thanksgiving, instead of stressing out about the turkey and the guests, why not revisit the place where it all began?
The place where it all began is in the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. This is where the Pilgrims established a colony after arriving in the Mayflower. This is also where “The First Thanksgiving” started, after the first harvest in 1621.
Visiting Plymouth is a great way to experience history first hand. You can visit Plimoth Plantation, the living history museum …

October’s Treats
Posted by Camica as Events, Family, Food and Drink, Historical, Nature, People, Tips
October is one of my favorite months. Not only is it the month of Halloween and Trick or Treating, it’s also the prelude to the whole holiday season, culminating in every kid’s favorite month, December. October became more special when I became a mom and started buying in to all that Halloween hype. Usually, by the first week of October, I’m already racking my brains trying to come up with a killer costume (pun intended) for my kids. If you want to experience the whole Halloween fun, there’s a lot more to do than just trick or treating.
• Enjoy the fall harvest. Now’s your last chance to get your pick of fresh vegetables and fruits. …

A Museum of a Different Nature
Posted by Jen as Arts & Culture, Historical, Travelogger, United States
People aren’t always interested in ancient artifacts from sacred mountain sites and centuries-old paintings of romantic painters. And frankly, not all museums are either. In New York City, for example, there are museums dedicated to other works of art that explore man’s other muses. One of them, the Museum of Sex, is an obvious example.
Art is passion, so they say. And this particular collection has a concentration of passion unlike any other. The Museum of Sex or MoSex Museum is probably one museum high schools would never send their classes to. For those with a more mature state of mind, however, there is much to learn and discover. While there is supposedly a thin line between erotica art and pure …

Mystique of the Orient Express
Posted by Camica as Around The World, Historical, Luxurious, Transport
Ever heard of the Orient Express? Readers of Agatha Christie should be familiar with her novel, “Murder on the Orient Express”. It was also used in the James Bond movie “From Russia With Love”. The Orient Express is the name of a long-distance passenger train originally operated by the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits. Its route has changed many times, and there are actually several privately run trains that use the name as well. Although the original Orient Express was simply a normal international railway service, the name has become synonymous with intrigue and luxury travel.

Posted by Zahir as Adventure, Africa, Around The World, Arts & Culture, Asia, Events, Getaways, Historical, Nature, Transport, Trends
Any person would know that riding a horse is only typical. But to ride on an elephant, a large mammal where people can probably connect them to eating peanuts and being squashed by their large feet, is another thing that will surely stir some sort of excitement. Not all people of the world would have the luxury of actually riding on elephants on any given day but at Nepal, a safari adventure in their National Park is an experience that would surely be worth the trip.
It is like striking two stones. One is you get to ride on these large creatures on a rare opportunity and second is you are …

Learn To Adjust in Foreign Lands
Posted by Zahir as Adventure, Africa, Americas, Around The World, Arts & Culture, Asia, Australia NZ, Carribbean, Education, Europe, Historical, Oceania, Tips, Trends, United States, Warnings
People who have the benefit of visiting other places and regions should already know beforehand that they will experience a totally new culture and environment. Countries have different types of cultures and beliefs hence it would be best to make preliminary studies beforehand so that they can be able to identify the things they can and cannot do once they land on the foreign native soil.
The difference in cultures is indeed amazing. The simple things may end up being a big thing for people. Like in Taiwan, it is a sign of disrespect to fork your chopsticks against your food since it is a sign of death. When passing by a mourning …
