Florida has long been known for it’s perfect tropical weather and breathtaking sunsets. This is why most of the world’s rich and famous prefer the area which is rich in unspoiled beauty along the sea where a beach is sure to be within reach all the time. One of the newest and hottest developments along the Gulf Coast is The Village of South Walton, one of the newest development projects in the whole of Florida. Florida hasn’t seem much development due to the sudden collapse of the sub-prime lending market, whose effects have been attributed to be one of the causes that led to the current recession. This being the case, more and more people are running out of options when it comes to vacation homes upon retirement with some of the best having fallen victim to the …

Why Travel For New Year’s Eve?
Posted by Noemi as Adventure, Getaways, Travelogger
I thought I’d put in one more post before the year ends – and before we hit the road, with no certainty of getting a good connection to the Internet on New Year’s Eve. I just realized that I am taking for granted that we SHOULD travel for New Year. It’s just that I don’t get that many days off at work and the last 2 weeks in December is usually the only free time that I have. So why travel for the New Year? Why not just stay at home, like some people do, and welcome the year ahead in one’s comfort zone?
Though I do not place much stock on superstition, I do believe that it would be a good thing to welcome the New Year with some new experience that will ...

Tamaraw Beach, Puerto Galera – Ideal Beach For Families
Posted by Noemi as Around The World, Asia, Destinations, Family, Getaways, Islands, Nature, Resorts, Travelogger

We just came back from a short summer trip where we discovered a great beach for families. The resort is called Tamaraw Beach Resort and it can be found in the Puerto Galera, off the coast of Batangas in the Philippines. Puerto Galera used to be the destination for many beach lovers until it became overcrowded. That is why we were pleasantly surprised with what awaited us at Tamaraw Beach.
Their accommodations have been designed to suit family needs – the rooms are huge and can fit up to 6 people (at least our room did). They also have family apartments that can fit 10 people and come with kitchenettes. The best thing is that this resort is in a private stretch of beach – meaning that you can have the beach all to …

Breakaway In Orlando This Spring Break!
Posted by Noemi as Cities, Family, Festivals, Getaways, United States

Spring Break is always something that students look forward to. For the older kids, especially those in college, they would probably look to spending time on their own – away from their parents. For those families with younger kids, however, Spring Break could be a perfect chance to have a family vacation to break away from the mundane life that usually prevails from January to March. So if you fall under the second category, what options do you have for a Spring Break vacation this year?
About.com tells us that Orlando is actually the number 1 destination for families for Spring Break. I don’t know where they got the numbers but I am inclined to believe them. You can opt to go to Orlando but be prepared to join many other families. Then again, Spring Break is not …

Easter Holidays in the UK
Posted by Noemi as Cities, Cruises, Destinations, Europe, Family, Festivals, Getaways, Hotels, Transport

In the last post, I wrote about some Easter vacation ideas for families in the US. Of course, the US isn’t the only country that celebrates this holiday – our cousins across the ocean do so as well! Here are some great holiday ideas in the UK. Whether you live in Britain or not, it is always worth traveling to that part of the world for a break.
Tour the countryside in a camper van
You do not need to own one in order to do this – there are plenty of camper van rentals all throughout the UK. The best thing about renting a camper van is that you get to explore the land without having to pay extra for the lodging! I think one of the best places to roam around in a …

Visiting Santa Claus Town
Posted by Camica as Around The World, Destinations, Events, Family, Festivals, Getaways, United States

If you’re crazy about Christmas, and count St. Nick as one of your heroes, then it’s time for you to visit Santa Claus, Indiana. This town, which was established in 1856, has the world’s only post office to bear the name of Santa Claus. Chances are, the letters you sent to Santa has been routed to their post office. Because of this, a group of volunteers known as “Santa’s Elves” ensures each child receives a reply from Santa Claus, a tradition that has been around since 1914. The Post Office also prints the only official Santa Claus postmark, a Santa Claus picture postmark that’s available only during the Christmas season.
Of course, the whole town has capitalized on the whole Christmas theme. There’s Christmas Lake Village, where the street names are all themed after the season as well. The area’s 3 lakes are called …

Traveling With Kids, Part 2
Posted by Camica as Around The World, Destinations, Family, Getaways, People, Tips
Here’s the rest of the tips about enjoying your vacation while traveling with kids:
• Double-check your reservation- to err is human, and sometimes reservation agents can make mistakes with your reservation. To avoid unnecessary inconvenience, make sure you call your hotel or resort 24 hours before you leave to double-check your reservation. Also, if you’re unfamiliar with the hotel, and you know someone in the area, have them check it out for you beforehand. Issues about cleanliness and security, which you might normally let pass if you were traveling alone, can suddenly become a big deal if you have kids along. If you have any special requests, such as non-smoking rooms or an extra bed or crib, it’s always better to let the hotel know beforehand, so they can be sure to reserve it for you.
• Make a list of things you need to pack, and bring it …

Also known as the Holiday Headquarters, Kansas City is the perfect getaway for families who want to experience good old holiday cheer.

As early as November, the city plays host to a number of different theater acts. Kids will surely enjoy watching “The Happy Elf” at The Coterie Theater and “The Nutcracker” at the Music Hall.
