More from New Jersey
Posted by Zahir as Americas, Destinations, Eco-Friendly, Family, Getaways, Hotels, Nature, Resorts, Travelogger, United States

Heard about the wonderful beaches of New Jersey, well there’s more. New Jersey differs from most summer vacation spots due to an emphasis on family and the importance of being together. Need time out from the hustle and bustle of city life, give Sea Isle City a try and you’ll be amazed at what’s been hidden from most of us for so long.
Quiet and pristine beaches where you can wander along in peace. Love water, why not try the marina for some water sports. Golf, they have wonderful golf courses and much much more for the whole family. Most places claim to cater to the whole family but this is rarely the case. Here in Sea Isle City, we revolve around the family. From family businesses to time tested family recipes on our many restaurants. Sea Isle …

Visit Singapore In 2009
Posted by Noemi as Announcements, Asia, Hotels
This year, Singapore experienced a boom in its travel industry, largely due to the fact that the first ever F1 night race was held in September. As you may know, if you actually tried booking hotel rooms around that time, accommodations became hard to find. And when you did find available rooms, the prices were astronomical! Though prices have dropped somewhat, the average price is still a bit steep, especially if you compare them to other Asian countries such as Thailand (which is always known for cheap accommodation anyway).
As the year 2008 ends, however, we might even have better reasons to visit Singapore. According to Channel News Asia, the year 2009 may prove to be a good time to book hotel rooms in the country as the number of tourists coming to Singapore have slowed down. …

Care To Spend A Night At The “Zero Star” Hotel?
Posted by Noemi as Adventure, Around The World, Backpacking & Budget, Destinations, Hotels
While the rest of the world tries to out-compete one another in creating a hotel with the highest possible star rating, two brothers from Switzerland have set up a hotel with a ZERO STAR rating. I can just imagine how austere this kind of hotel would be.
According Frank and Patrik Riklin, who are by the way twin artists, the hotel was originally an art project. They wanted to make use of a nuclear bunker, of which there are many in the country. This particular nuclear bunker is located in the small town of Sevelen, which is about one hour away from Zurich.
First a little background on the existence of nuclear bunkers – it used to be that every town had to have one. In the days of the Cold War, this was a …

Take A Closer Look At Travel Costs (Part 2)
Posted by Noemi as Hotels, Tips

In the previous post, we took a look at how you can save some money and avoid spending more than you should with regard to airfare. This time, let us take a look at the other major cost associated with traveling – accommodations. Before we go on, let me ask you this – what kind of accommodation do you usually book? Are you the type of person who likes comfortable and luxurious hotels? Or are you the type who can “rough” it out at hostels and lower budget accommodations?
I suggest that you decide the answer in your mind and IF you do think that you could hack it out in a hostel, then you just might save TONS of money in accommodations. To be honest, I have not made up my mind with regards to this. I …

Easter Holidays in the UK
Posted by Noemi as Cities, Cruises, Destinations, Europe, Family, Festivals, Getaways, Hotels, Transport

In the last post, I wrote about some Easter vacation ideas for families in the US. Of course, the US isn’t the only country that celebrates this holiday – our cousins across the ocean do so as well! Here are some great holiday ideas in the UK. Whether you live in Britain or not, it is always worth traveling to that part of the world for a break.
Tour the countryside in a camper van
You do not need to own one in order to do this – there are plenty of camper van rentals all throughout the UK. The best thing about renting a camper van is that you get to explore the land without having to pay extra for the lodging! I think one of the best places to roam around in a …

Online Booking Tips: Hotels
Posted by Camica as Around The World, Destinations, Food and Drink, Hotels, Resorts, Tips
Nowadays, a lot of travelers are choosing to book their hotel online. Not only is it usually cheaper than booking with a travel agency, computer savvy travelers also get to surf the net for their choice of hotels and packages. Since most of these reservations are prepaid, and canceling a reservation will usually leave a customer with a cancellation charge, it’s a good idea to research the hotel you plan to book extensively. If you’re not familiar with hotel lingo, you might get stuck paying for something you don’t need or want.
When you’re searching for hotels, aside from the room types, you might also come upon different meal plans. Although most hotels will indicate if breakfast is included in the price, some hotels (especially resorts), may also say the room rate includes a European plan or is all-inclusive. It can get pretty confusing, …

Super Saver Trip Tips: Reservations
Posted by Hannah Grace as Hotels, Tips
The last time I posted I wrote about how you can get great deals by taking advantage of “shoulder-season” bargains. However, even if you do decide to go on a vacation during peak season you can definitely save a lot of money by looking for great accommodation deals. What most people neglect to do when reserving their accommodations is to ask for bargains or promos. Remember that there’s nothing to lose by bargaining so you might as well sharpen your bargaining skills. Afterall when it comes to making reservations bargaining doesn’t really mean haggling but simply asking if there are any better deals available.
To get the lowest possible deals for your hotel room (or whatever type of accommodation you might choose) simply ask the reservationist for the best prices they offer. Reservationists are usually trained to quote the highest listed price and not mention the existing better deals unless …

Howl-O-Ween

Yep, it’s just around the corner and as early as now, many people are already thinking of fun things to do when this holiday comes around. Probably not everyone enjoys Halloween as much as we do but it is a good excuse for a family vacation as any!
Here’s something different that you can try out this year. Instead of staying at home and having the kids go trick or treating as usual, why not spend a night or so at a Halloween-themed resort or hotel? Great Wolf Lodges is known for its Halloween parties for families.
With various locations scattered throughout the States, I am sure your family will be able to find one that is relatively near. Right now, their locations are:
-Wisconsin Dells, Wis.
-Sandusky, Ohio
-Traverse City, Mich.
-Kansas City, Kan.
-Williamsburg, Va.
-The Pocono Mountains, Pa.
-Niagara Falls, Ontario …
