Escape the Winter to a Brazilian Beach

January 23, 2011 By David Jones

The winter can be a wonderful season but the heavy snow isn’t exactly by everyone’s taste – some people still crave the hot Sun’s beams in the summer and wish they could find some relaxation on a beach and escape the winter. And the truth is, if you know how to get the most of your travels, you should be able to find a fantastic place for relaxation at one of Brazil’s great beaches.

However, you should never rush such trips. You can ruin all the magic of spending a winter on a beach if you aren’t properly prepared for the whole ordeal – and the best way to prepare yourself is to simply read up! Make sure you take a look at this list of the ten top beaches in Brazil, in order to get a good idea which places are worth visiting. Be prepared financially as well – you’ll need to provide yourself with some reliable transportation to get around the different beaches you may want to visit, and this can sometimes be a costly issue in Brazil.

Also, remember to take pictures – it’s not every year that you get to spend the winter relaxing on a beach, and it’s guaranteed to make quite a party story – so ensure you have the proper material to back that story up and snap a few shots of your relaxing trip. Keep all this in mind and we guarantee you, this would be a winter you’d hardly ever forget!

Enjoy the Winter in Copenhagen

January 20, 2011 By David Jones

Winter is full of magic and adventure for most, and if you’re looking for an interesting place to spend this year’s snowy season, you may want to give Copenhagen a try. It may definitely not be on the top of your list of ideas, but only those who’ve visited Copenhagen during one of its winters know how magical the whole experience can be, and how much joy it can bring into your holidays – so really, if you haven’t been to Copenhagen in the winter yet, now’s the time to check it out!

Copenhagen really changes during the winter – there are a lot of places to visit and things to see, so if you’re looking to make this holiday an interesting one, look no further. You should definitely start your search with the Tivoli Christmas market – apart from being the perfect location to do your obligatory gift shopping, it can also offer you a variety of popular Danish treats and really load you up with that good old Christmas spirit.

Try the Cisternerne museum of modern glass art as well – even if you’re not into art that much, it still offers plenty of interesting exhibitions to see and you never know when your appreciation for high-grade art might sparkle and get you to discover your new favorite form of art! Just make sure you don’t spend all your time in here, as the museum certainly offers a lot to see – but Copenhagen does too, and it’s waiting for you to discover all its unique secrets!

Dealing with Jetlag and Climate Changes

September 24, 2010 By Zahir

Jetlag Bug

People who love to travel are already used to the different time zones that most countries have. Sudden changes in the time and weather may prove to be a problem on adjusting to such if a person is not used to such fast paced evolution and lifestyle.

For people, traveling to any part of the world such as the United States, Europe and Asian continents would need body clock adjustments as well. The cultural practices and traditions are not the only immediate things that globetrotters should worry about but rather their ability to cope up with change.

Climate also entails being ready for the level of health a person is able to sustain. Sudden changes like cold and hot temperatures would need standby requirements of medicine or clothing just in case to ensure that the human body does not suffer a sudden burst of bodily reaction towards such external factors of nature from any part of the world that they may want to visit.

Banyan Tree Ringha’s Lost Horizon

July 16, 2010 By Zahir

Like the Aman-junkies (devoted Aman resort followers who langorously troupe from one luxury Aman resort to another), Banyan-junkies are now flocking to the latest Banyan Tree hotel high up in the mountains of Yunnan, China which opened this month.

Amid a Tibetan-style atmosphere of meditative Buddhist temples, prayer flags and gorgeous mountain views, the hotel is located a gasping (literally) 10,500 feet above sea level in a beautiful part of Sothwestern China in between Tibet, Myanmar and China’s Sichuan province.

The rooms are massive and decorated rather somberly with dark woods and large splashes of Chinese red lacquer and quilted curtains teeming with Tibetan flavour. The smallest room of the hotel, the Tibetan suite sprawls at 2,200 square feet and all the other rooms of the hotel are likewise on two floors.

The bathrooms are equally grand and spa-like in size, with more lacquer and tubs so large that one guest reported that his actually took over an hour to fill. To be expected are the mod cons easily found in most top hotels and resorts these days – the dvd and cd players, satellite television and high-speed internet to perhaps keep up with your blogging away from home.

There are two restaurants and a tea house to choose from, serving Chinese, Tibetan and Western cuisine. Of course, you could also choose the in-room dining option which is served until late in your room or in the romantic privacy of your courtyard garden.

The reason why this resort is so special (and near the top of my list of hotels to visit) is not its opulent comforts, but in its location, location, location. For the Banyan Tree Ringha is set in what James Hilton so wonderfully described in one of my favourite novels, “Lost Horizon” – reportedly Shangri La itself.

And after a hard day’s trekking and exploring (by four-wheel-drive) with one of the hotel’s expert guides, you can then treat yourself to a gloriously exotic-sounding treatment at the resort spa – perhaps a rice wine bath followed by a black sesame scrub to prepare you for another day in the Himalayan paradise.
