Traveling While On The Family Way
Posted by Noemi as People, Health, Tips, Family

One of the main reasons I do not want to get pregnant is my fear that I might not be able to travel as much as I do now. That line may be too personal for some of you but I thought that it might strike a chord in some other women. Men might not really get it, but while being pregnant does not make one an invalid, it can get in the way of some things.
However, as many of my mom friends have told me, traveling does not necessarily have to be put off just because you are in the family way. It depends on the stage …

Have A Healthy Vacation
Posted by Noemi as Health & Wellness, Health, Tips, Family

One of the major concerns of parents when going on family vacations is the health of the family members. This is particularly important if the family has young children. With enough planning and preparation, your family can enjoy a healthy vacation. Here are some tips to help you out.
Prepare a vacation kit
It’s much like a first aid kit but better. I am sure that you have a first aid kit at home – just throw in a few more things in there and you have your vacation kit. So, aside from the regular supplies such as alcohol, band aids, antiseptics, etc., you may want …

Eating Healthy While on Vacation
Posted by Noemi as Food and Drink, Health, Tips, Family

One of the most common mindsets when it comes to going on vacation is to indulge one’s self without any limits. For adults it could be in relation to food and drink. For children, it is mostly about food and fun.
Now I have nothing against enjoying one’s self but if you think about it, going on a vacation does not really mean that you can just let go of all your inhibitions and eat whatever you want, whenever you want, and as much as you want. Try doing that to the maximum and see if you will not get sick after the trip – or maybe even …

Baby (Born) On Board!
Posted by Camica as Air Travel, Transport, Around The World, People, News, Tips, Health, Family

There’s an urban legend floating around in the airline industry, that babies born on board a flight get a lifetime free ride with the airline. It certainly tickles the imagination, the idea of being able to go places anytime you want, all for free! Unfortunately, it’s a legend that has no basis in fact; airline agents I’ve spoken to deny that the airline has any such policy. In fact, airlines strongly discourage pregnant women to fly during their third trimester.
In general, airlines require a pregnant woman traveling during her ninth month to present a doctor’s “permission-to-travel” letter signed within 72 hours of travel. This is enforced based on an “honor policy”, however. …

Posted by Camica as Food and Drink, Health, Tips, Family
Going on a trip doesn’t come cheap. Unless you’re filthy rich and you don’t have to worry about a budget, going on a trip, whether it’s a simple road trip by car, or a luxurious week-long vacation, usually means setting aside some hard-earned money. If you have kids, going on a vacation might turn-out to be more expensive than you originally planned, since safety and convenience will have to take precedence over cheap and available. So how do you stay within budget, without feeling like a Scrooge? Here’s some tips on eating out:
Eat a substantial breakfast – …

Sunscreen Tips
Posted by Camica as Features, Health & Wellness, Health, Family
You know it’s summer when the smell of sunscreen lotion replaces the scent of perfume. Although sunscreen or sun block should be used the whole year round, sunscreen becomes more of an essential during summer. After all, summer means more trips to the beach and outdoors. With that in mind, I decided to remind all you sun lovers out there about using sunscreen.
First off, what’s the difference between sunscreen and sun block? Well, sunscreen contain chemicals that absorb UV rays. They are also inconspicous on the skin. The chemicals that are most often found in sunscreens include PABA, Benzophenones, Cinnamates & Salicylates. Sunblocks reflect UV rays. Sunblocks are usually opaque white film, but nowadays, some companies create sunblocks that …

People who love to travel are already used to the different time zones that most countries have. Sudden changes in the time and weather may prove to be a problem on adjusting to such if a person is not used to such fast paced evolution and lifestyle.
For people, traveling to any part of the world such as the United States, Europe and Asian continents would need body clock adjustments as well. The cultural practices and traditions are not the only immediate things that globetrotters should worry about but rather their ability to cope up with change.
Climate also entails being ready for the level of health a person is …

For people who are not used to knowing what to do in fields of white snow, skiing is perhaps the best activity that they can do, something that they can only make for certain periods such as vacation holidays and tourist vacations.
There are a lot of places such as the Hartkaiser Chalet, in Austria and La Rosire 1850 in France to check out if people are decided on taking a skiing vacation. A good place to be for beginners and experts, emabarking on the fields of snow and riding them just like the pros will certainly be something that will be a memorable part of the lives of people on a valued break.
Ski …

The Benefits of a Spa Vacation
Posted by Zahir as Health & Wellness, Air Travel, Around The World, Eco-Friendly, United States, Spa, Europe, Americas, Tips, Health, Getaways
Everyone taking on tours and vacation holidays would only think about taking a breather and a change of scenery, mostly focused on the psychological aspect and surrounding environment a person is exposed to. Stress is the number one culprit that becomes the reason for people to seek better surroundings and leisure like activities. But today, maximizing the health benefits from such in the form of spa tours as specialized by countries like Budapest, Hungary and Italy have been a good alternative.
Spas can be located anywhere, even in the local towns. But the type of service that foreign spa groups make the trip to them even more worthwhile. Each …

Virus Outbreak On Luxury Cruises
Posted by Zahir as Cruises, Warnings, Around The World, News, Health

Theres not much worse than falling ill while on holiday, so imagine what its like when 16% of the passengers aboard the QE2 (Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth 2) caught the norovirus not long after the luxury cruise liner set sail from Southhampton, England on January 2nd.
Norovirus, a gastrointestinal virus which can strike any person of any age, is characterized by a sudden and rather violent onset of symptoms - vomiting, nausea, diarrhea - of which just one or all may appear. Although the symptoms are downright dismal, the good news is that this virus’ only lasts from 1-3 days. However, the virus is extremely infectuous and carriers or those infected with it can still …
