Taking Your Teen on a Cruise? Set Safety Rules
Posted by Wayne as Travelogger
Going on a cruise can be a great adventure for the entire family. However, teenagers aren’t exactly known for their calm and predictable behavior. That’s why it’s best to lay a few ground rules before going on vacation. Whether it’s setting a curfew time or insisting that teens uphold common rules enforced at home, there are several things you can do to prevent your teen from getting injured or worse. Here are just a few tips for setting safety rules when taking your teens on a cruise.

Start with the Ship’s Rules
There are a number of rules enforced by cruise lines, which makes it easier for parents to know where to start. For example, some cruise lines may insist that people under the age of 18 return to their cabins by midnight, unless accompanied by an adult. Reading the rules ahead of time can give you an your family a better understanding of what is and is not accepted on the ship.
Set a Curfew
While you may be a bit more lenient with curfew while on vacation, a curfew should still be in place. If the ship doesn’t have curfew hours listed, you may want to set a time that you know how you will still be awake. This ensures that the teen comes back to the room at the expected time. Explain to them that cruises aren’t just a place for families and that there are criminals on board who may try something when there are fewer people around.

More Stay-cation Ideas
Posted by Noemi as Travelogger

Did the stay-cation ideas I presented the last time appeal to you? If not, here are several more which you can consider.
Book a night or two at a local hotel
This option may still cost you a bit of money but not as much as if you were to go on a vacation in a far away destination. What I like about staying in a hotel for a couple of nights, even if it’s in my home city, is that you can relax more than you can at home. You do not have to clean up and the amenities are really nice. You can frolic in the pool, exercise in the gym, soak in the tub, and so on. You can even use the day to walk around the city as if you were tourists – this can be so much fun!

Travel Gear : Sunscreen or Tanning Lotion?
Posted by as Around The World, Business, Family, Health, Health & Wellness, Travelogger
Going some where for a vacation and debating on whether to take a sunscreen lotion or a tanning lotion? If you are, maybe you can get something out of this post. One of my rules when traveling is to always bring sun screen. Applying sunscreen is very important to keep your skin healthy by providing protection from the sun. In fact, you should be using sunscreen not just on vacations, but you should be using it every day!
That means that you can leave the tanning lotion behind, right? Not necessarily. Obviously, when you go on a vacation the days you spend there are special. You want to get something out of it, and one of those things, if you are headed to a sunny place, is a nice good tan. True sunscreen will keep you healthy, but it is understandable that you …

Are Budget Hotels Worth It?
Posted by Noemi as Hotels, Travelogger
My husband and I are probably the two most different people in the world. Anything one likes, the other one dislikes. Don’t ask me how we hooked up. Anyway, when it comes to traveling, I tend to look for the budget hotels. Naturally, he prefers the more luxurious ones. It’s a good thing that I always end up planning the whole trip, so I get my way.
This brings to mind a question that I hear a lot: are budget hotels worth it? On the one hand, as the name suggests, you do not have to spend an arm and a leg for your accommodations. More so, you don’t really get to stay in your room during your trip. On the other hand, you might not get the amenities that you want in a …

Ben Thanh Night Market
Posted by Noemi as Asia, Cities, Destinations, Food and Drink, Shopping, Travelogger
There is something about night markets that attract me – and tons of other tourists, as well. Every time I visit a new city, I make it a point to find out if it has a night market, and I make sure that go there at least once. I don’t know why, but night markets are much more fun than the “day” ones.
In any case, as I was telling you in my previous post, Ben Thanh Market closes in the early evening, but its night market draws more crowds – if that’s at all possible. The night market is composed of stalls set up in the streets flanking the Ben Thanh Market. During the day, these streets serve as, well, streets. The sides are parking areas as well. When the night market opens, they still serve as streets – motorcycles galore – but your …
