Best Travel Sites
Posted by Noemi as Travelogger, Website

Without a doubt, the Internet has made traveling for everyone a much easier job. Think about it, you are reading this blog post through the Internet to find out more about travel tips and other people’s experiences, right? I bet that you also visit other travel web sites, especially if you are looking into something specific. There is such a thing as information overload, though. With all the travel web sites in existence out there, how do you figure out which ones to go to? You can, of course, do it by trial and error and visit them one by one but the chances of hitting gold with this method are nil. You’d probably end up wasting a lot of your time. To help you out, I thought I’d list down some of the …

Want to See Santa?
Posted by Hannah Grace as Around The World, Trivia, Website
If you want to see this Christmas you don’t really have to visit the North Pole. All you need is to track Santa’s actual location with the help of NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command). I’m serious!
Every year NORAD tracks down Santa’s flight plan from the moment he leaves the North Pole and starts delivering presents all over the world. In fact NORAD claims to have been doing this for 50 years now! So if you want to catch Santa red-handed you definitely should visit the NORAD Tracks Santa website and download Google Earth.
Anyway, looking at Santa’s stops during the previous years it seems that he has a penchant for stopping by really cool places to travel like the Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower, the Reindeer Lake at Manitoba, Central Park and Lady Liberty, and the …

Super Saver Trip Tips: Wander, Write and Win
Posted by Hannah Grace as Announcements, Reading Room, Tips, Website
Tip #3 – Wander, Write and Win
Tip number three won’t really save you any money during your trip but it can MAKE you MONEY AFTER you go on your trip. As the title suggests one way you can “reimburse” some of that money you spent on your grand (or not-so-grand) vacation would be to write about your travel experience, submit your story and get paid for it.
The problem with this set up is that most travel magazines and travel blogs already have full time writers and do not accept stories from “ordinary travelers”. Then there are those that do accept feedbacks and comments but do not offer payment, leaving you with a brain full of memories and a pocketful of lint.
Enter the internet. The great thing about the internet is that it is not only a great place to surf for bargain vacation packages …

Super Saver Trip Tips: Travel Insurance
Posted by Hannah Grace as Backpacking & Budget, Family, Tips, Website
Tip #2 – Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is something many people do not really bother with. This is especially true for those who are simply planning on a really short trip or a trip not too far away. The preparations seem unnecessary and too big a hassle. After all what could go wrong? Right? Well the truth is a lot could go wrong. You’re just never really sure. That’s why it’s called insurance! If something DOES go wrong, in the end the time you spent choosing a good travel insurance package as well as the money you shell out to make sure you are covered for any eventuality will be really really worth it.
When choosing a travel insurance package though make sure that you get one that fits you. There are so many kind of packages to choose from and general …

Food and Wine Across America
Posted by Hannah Grace as Americas, Food and Drink, Gourmet, Tips, United States, Website
Last time I wrote about Food an Wine’s Go List. The Go List consists of 335 of the best places to eat all over the world. As exhaustive as the list is though I’m pretty sure that they missed some equally excellent restaurants. After all we can’t expect the staff of F&W to be able to visit all the restaurants in the world. The good news for American gourmands and tourists planning to visit America is that Food and Wine has an even more exhaustive list of places all over the country where you can find good eats.
Food an Wine Across America features restaurants that are recommended by locals. This means that those small but excellent restaurants that were missed by F&W critics are most often than not listed here. …

Food and Wine: Go List 2007
Posted by Hannah Grace as Around The World, Food and Drink, Gourmet, Tips, Website
Who says that traveling is all about the sights and sounds? Anyone who loves great food knows that a good trip includes at least one great meal. No. That wasn’t right. It includes one excellent unforgettable meal. After you’ve forgotten the name of the streets you’ve visited the taste of that one glorious meal still lingers in your memory.
If you understand what I’m saying then finding a worthy place to eat is as important as finding all the tourist attractions in the area. One of the easiest, and a favorite way of mine, to find out the best place to eat is by visiting Food and Wine’s Go List. Food and Wine’s Go List is updated every year so that the list includes the oldest and most distinguished restaurants to the newest and hippest bars all …

Swapping Homes
Posted by Hannah Grace as Adventure, Around The World, Family, Website
After reading Camica’s post about Women Welcome Women WorldWide (5W), I remembered this blog I stumbled upon sometime last year – Travel the Home Exchange Way (called Home Exchange Travel before). The blog exposed me to a whole new way of vacationing.
Staying with another family during vacations is nothing new. In fact people have stayed with family and friends, or even friends of friends, since time immemorial. What is not so common is vacationing in the home of an almost stranger – an acquaintance. After all this requires not only hospitality but a huge level of trust. This is why 5W struck me as, not only unique, but refreshingly idealistic. Not too retract from the merits of opening your home to a stranger turned new-found friend, swapping homes is, as I …

Shopping at Sydney: Art
Posted by Hannah Grace as Around The World, Arts & Culture, Australia NZ, Destinations, Shopping, Website
When people hear the word “Sydney” the first thing that pops into most people’s minds is a picture of the Opera House. Like any place though Sydney has so much more to offer and will delight any tourist with all the sights to see and all the things you can do. With all the things that can be said about Sydney it was pretty hard for me to choose what to write about today, until I remembered shopping! Shopping for souvenirs might be the last thing to do for many travelers but for shopaholics souvenirs are just an excuse to browse around and haggle. Sydney is a great place for shoppers whether you are looking for art, fashion accessories or wine and food.
Art lovers will surely love the indigenous art of the aborigines with each piece reflecting a special part of …

Meeting the Adventurous Wench
Posted by Jen as Travelogger, Website
“Who is the Adventurous Wench?” you might wonder. She is the Elizabeth Swann of Pirates of the Carribean and the Eowyn of Lord of the Rings. In short, she’s the adventurous side of yourself. At least, that’s what Deanna Keahey, founder of the Adventurous Wench website, believes.

Ahoy, adventure!!!
What makes her travel website so interesting is the fact that it caters to a special group of people only: Women! Men aren’t the only ones allowed to have an adventure every now and then! The Adventurous Wench itinerary and packages are all designed specifically with female enjoyment in mind. The Adventurous Wench makes sure that all guests are taken care of in the exact way that they want.
