The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Rockefeller Center in New York is perhaps the most famous Christmas tree lighting event in the U.S. This year, it will be held on the 28th of November. Aside from the tree lighting, there will also be a skating show at the ice rink. If you cannot make the trip to New York, you can also watch this event on TV.
Washington, DC has its own Christmas tree lighting ceremony, to be held on the 6th of December. This would be a really good time to take the kids up to the capital as there will be different activities and exhibits, including the National Christmas tree, all throughout December.
