Cruising with Kids
Posted by Noemi as Family

How many of you have always wanted to go on a cruise and never had the chance to do it? Just because you now have a family with a child (or two) doesn’t mean that you cannot go on a cruise and live your dreams. As a matter of fact, cruises are perfect for the family! Just as much as you would love to go on a cruise, your kids probably feel the same. More so, the cruising industry seems to have recognized a valuable market in family cruises. As such, you can expect many advantages to going on a family cruise.
Cruise ships are great in the sense that they have a wide variety of activities and facilities that cater to a wide age group. If you have small children and teenage children, you can surely find something to catch their individual interests – the same holds for you. More so, cruises are often all-inclusive. That means that budgeting would be one task for the whole family. Imagine sitting down to dinner and not having to limit your choices because everything has been paid for. Now wouldn’t that make things so much easier?
However, not all cruises are designed to be child-friendly. That is why you have to look around for a cruise that offers activities for children. You should also ask around for perks and restrictions relating to children. Here are some questions you could ask your travel agent:
• Are there any age restrictions? If so, what are they?
• Are there any discounts available for certain ages? If so, what ages qualify?
• Are there arrangements for child care on the ship?
• What are the ports of call? Will they be interesting and safe for the children?
These are only some of the basic questions that you can ask when considering a cruise for the whole family. Remember, you shouldn’t see kids as a deterrent to going on a cruise. Instead, you should make them your excuse to finally go on one!
