Of Babies and Airplanes

Many adults do not really relish staying for hours on the plane. Even more adults (or kids for that matter) dread having to take a plane with a baby on board. Whether or not the baby is theirs, adults know that having these cute little babies can turn a plane ride into a very difficult trip. If you are planning to go on a plane with your baby, here are some tips to make the journey easier on everyone involved.
Start with the booking of your flight. See if the airline can give you the seats that you want. Explain that you have a baby with you – children cannot sit at the emergency exits. Also find out if the airline allows the boarding of people with children first.
Pack wisely for your carry on bag. You think you will need 3 diapers for the flight? Bring an additional 3 more. You never know when you might need them. The same thing goes for clothes. To keep soiled clothes and diapers, bring Zip-loc bags. These will ensure that the rest of your belongings won’t be soiled as well.
Don’t forget the baby wipes! These will be very useful not only if your baby does number 2 on the plane but for older children too (imagine him having food all over his face and arms).
Treats and things to keep your baby amused should also be part of your packing priorities. You would need these things to keep him or her amused during the flight.
Last point, even adults suffer from ear pressure problems. To help your baby – who probably wouldn’t understand what is going on – have him or her suck on a feeding bottle during take off and landing.
