Who has not heard of the city of Salem, Massachusetts? Centuries ago, this town was the focal point of witch hunts, with people being burned at the stake under the suspicion that they were witches, cohorts of the Devil. Today, Salem has emerged from that history, not forgetting its past but dealing with it quite well.
If you are after a good time for Halloween, you should consider spending a weekend or two this October in Salem. They have one of the longest and most extravagant Halloween celebrations you can find in all of the United States.
The Grand Opening Haunted Happenings Parade was already held on the 4th of this month but that does not mean that you cannot take part in the numerous activities Salem has prepared for the whole family for October.
Upcoming events that you may want to check out:
October 13
Childrens’ Day on Salem Commons (11am-5pm)
Halloween at Hogwarts (9am-12pm)
Salem Chamber of Commerce Halloween Biz Baz (10am-8pm)October 14
Salem Chamber of Commerce Halloween Biz Baz (10am-5pm)
Bootiful Pets (10.30am-2pm)
The events above are only the tip of the iceberg – there are so many more things that Salem has in store for Halloween lovers during all weekends of this months. For more specific information, I suggest that you pay their site a visit here.
Just a word of warning for those who are not really into witches and things like that – they have several activities for real witches, especially on the night of October 31, as it is considered a sacred holiday for them. Other than that, I think most of the activities are totally family oriented.
