Spend Halloween at the Zoo

October 29, 2007 By noemi

Do you have children aged 2 to 8? Are you the type of parent who wants your kid to have Halloween fun but does not really agree with the exposure to the ghouls, zombies, and the like? Here’s the perfect Halloween treat for you and your kids – a trip to the zoo!

Zoos are always fun – both adults and children never fail to be amused and uplifted by a visit to the zoo. This fall, zoos all over the United States are offering their own brand of Halloween celebrations to families who are looking of for ghoul-less fun. Here are some zoos which will surely make your Halloween fun.

children in costumes at the zoo

Brookfield Zoo, Chicago, Illinois
Boo! at the Zoo is being held on the last two weekends of October. They have parades wherein the children can dress up in their favorite costume and they are also given the chance to get up close and personal with the animals in the zoo. At the end of the day, they get to take home goodie bags.

Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Fort Wayne, Indiana
Great Zoo Halloween is indeed “great” with hundreds of jack-o-lanterns lighting the paths around the zoo. This zoo is highly recommended for children. They can play carnival games for prizes and ride the haunted train for some adrenaline rush.

Toledo Zoo, Toledo, Ohio
Little Boo & Pumpkin Path – I think this one will suit the younger kids better. Little Boo is a toddlers’ party wherein they can go trick or treating, play games, and run around in a huge Fisher Price play area. The Pumpkin Path is best for children a bit older as they can also go trick or treating in a wider area, watch various performances, and play carnival games.

These are only a few examples of zoos which are offering something special this Halloween. If I were you, I’d check out my local zoo to see what they have going on.
