The Bethlehem Christmas Town Festival

What is the reason for Christmas? Any Christian would readily answer that it is because of the birth of Jesus Christ. Where was he born? In Bethlehem. We all know that this small town is located in Israel. Yet did you know that there is a Bethlehem right here in the United States?
It is actually located in Connecticut and is a picturesque town and boy, do they make the most out of their town’s name when Christmas time comes around! In fact, countless people have already made a visit to Bethlehem, CT a part of their Christmas celebrations.
What can you expect from a visit to this town during the Christmas season? Their Christmas Town Festival is the highlight of the period. Unfortunately, this year, they held it from December 7-8, so it’s a little too late to visit them for this now. However, there is still next year as they will surely hold it again.
During this festival, they have a candle light procession emulating Mary and Joseph’s search for a room for the night as well as Santa’s arrival. Children can also pay Santa visits in the town’s school house. There are other activities such as hay rides, shopping, and other entertainment.
For those who missed this festival, you can avail of the special Bethlehem cachets, rubber stamps which were originally designed by the post master in 1938. Today, they are popular gift items with various designs. You don’t even have to go there physically as you can order the cachets online.
