American Idol Summer Camp

Do you have a teenager who is a huge fan of American Idol? Are you still planning on what he or she can do for the summer? Well here is something different and exciting – the American Idol Summer Camp, which was launched last year, is going to be held once again this year and the next.

What is the Camp all about? Last year’s Camp was full of activities for children aged 10 to 15 years old. The concept of the Camp is to bring children together in a non-competitive environment (much unlike the popular TV show) and help them learn techniques with regard to “singing, dancing, acting, song writing, audition and performance techniques, personal style, video production, set design and more.”

I’d say that even if you child is that not big a fan of American Idol, the things that he or she could learn from the camp would be worth it. Of course, I suggest that you talk things over with your child if he or she is interested in such an adventure. How much is the camp going to set you back? Sorry to say, but the fee is a whopping $3,000 for a two-week session! Do not despair, though, as you can try applying for a scholarship.

However, I think it is too late to apply for this year’s sessions – they have early application deadlines. The good thing about this is that you can apply for next year’s sessions AND since it is still a long way off, you can still save up for it.

My teenage daughter desperately wanted to go to the American Idol summer camp. I told her if she worked for the money herself she could go. Needless to say she’s not going :)
