Child-Friendly Asia. Part Three

November 10, 2006 By Zahir

Indonesia

For families who love the convenience of the all-inclusive holiday, look no further than the Club Med Villages in Bali and Ria Bintan. Known for their “never a dull moment” action-packed holidays which include a wide array of sports and entertainment as well as food and drink, few kids clubs come as well-organized and as varied as Club Med‘s, with the Petit Club Med (for two to three-year-olds), Mini Club Med (four to ten-year-olds; workshops range from circus acts to rollerblading) and the Juniors’ Club Med (for teens from 11 to 17). A fun-filled Family Festival and new Baby Welcome Service for tots under 2 are new additions to the Indonesian Club Med villages, the baby service offering a haven of convenience with priority check-in and ground floor rooms, bottle warmers in restaurants and the main bar, baby cots, tubs, potties or “toilet reducers”, baby chairs in restaurants and baby strollers.

If your family is in need of more “r & r” rather than activities galore, then the Conrad Bali Resort and Spa offers baby-friendly amenities for your room (from toiletries to potties and nappies), kids menus and a Kids Club for kids over 3 years old. The Kura Kura club is as delightful as it sounds, with an indoor and outdoor playground, turtle ponds, and toddler area.

Japan

The obvious choice here is one of Tokyo Disneyland‘s hotels and resorts of course, but in town a sure bet where your kids will be welcomed is the Four Season Hotel Tokyo where the kids will be warmly welcomed by Berry the bear, be showered with toys and other goodies, and luckily for parents, you’ll be given a list of highly useful “parent info” such as shopping tips, sights and so on to assist in keeping everyone sane and happy whilst in Japan. Much nicer than a welcome drink, dont you think?

Malaysia

Last but not least, the country which describes itself as “Truly Asia”, is another place where child-friendly resorts are more the norm rather than the exception. From Langkawi to Penang, resorts like the Pelangi Beach and Spa and the Park Royal for instance, go to great lengths to make the little critters happy- with pretty much all the things to make you and your child feel like pampered VIPs. Swimming pools aplenty, many with slides and water features, Kids Clubs, special ameneties for the babes in arms, kids menus and babysitting galore.
