So what is so special about going to the spa? You can find a good one in most every corner in any city nowadays, after all. There are even home spa services which can provide you with the relaxation that you need in the comforts of your home at different times of the day. But have you ever heard of going to the spa while you are tens of thousands of feet up in the air?
With the new Airbus 380, this is quite possible – and indeed, it is becoming a reality. If you remember, Airbus, the other big name in the aircraft industry, has been working on the Airbus 380 for many years now. They have, in fact, encountered numerous delays in the release of the first plane, much to the dismay of everyone involved. It was only early this year or last year (I can’t remember exactly) that they were able to solve all the problems they encountered and finally announced the release of the aircraft – two years or so behind schedule.
So finally, we have history in the making. These new jumbo jetliners have been snapped up by various airliners including Singapore Airlines, Qantas, and Emirates. And it is this last airline that offers spas on board. Dubbed “shower spas,” the facility has heated floors and a 25-minute session includes a 5 minute shower. As the norm goes, however, only first class passengers will be able to book these sessions. If you have several thousands of dollars handy for a first class ticket, then you too, can enjoy a spa in the sky.
As for me, I think I would have to be content with my home spa service for now.
