Fashion Tips for the Traveler

October 10, 2013 By Teresa Martinez

Why would a traveler bother with fashion at a time when there is so much else to attend to like documents, travel funds, and health requirements? For one thing, traveling entails exposing one’s self to the public. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do so in complete comfort and confidence? Following a few essential fashion tips will help you accomplish this.

Opt for Fashionable Comfort

There is a reason why fashion and comfort are not always associated with each other.  While the former usually pertains to dressing up or exerting more effort to look good via the clothes worn, the latter provides visions of dressing down even to the point of dowdiness. A smart traveler neither dresses up or down but simply choose clothes that will present him or her in the best light without suffering the price of great discomfort. Traveling will require a lot of movement from one place to another with varying degrees of clothing formality required which brings us to the next tip.

Choose Versatile Interchangeable Outfits

For a much lighter luggage load, it is always best to trim down clothes to bring to the most basic plus some versatile interchangeable pieces. This would ensure that a traveler will be able to pull off several looks with the use of a minimal number of clothing pieces. The clothes to be brought must be able to adjust to the degree of formality or informality of several occasions.

Go for Low Maintenance Clothes

Low maintenance clothes means less concern for wrinkles as well as wear and tear. Although some travelers swear by the magic of rolling clothes instead of folding them to avoid creases, it makes sense to bring wrinkle-free clothing for less worries. Another low maintenance tip is to bring clothes in darker colors which will not readily show small stains and dirt which sometimes cannot be avoided while on travel.

Try Clothes Layering

Instead of wearing a single very thick clothing in anticipation of cold weather, it would be much better to layer clothes. This would mean having an inside shirt, a light sweater, and an outer coat. A traveler can also throw in a scarf which is one of the most versatile pieces. Layering of clothes will make it easy to shed or add clothing pieces depending on the weather or indoor temperature of travel destinations.

Bring Along Accessories

Accessories can make the same outfit look different. A small mixture of basic and trendy pieces should do the trick. Whatever one does, it is important to remember that people carry the clothes and not the other way around.
