Family vacations are a must – I think we all would agree on that. Yet have you ever stopped to think about why families should go on vacation together? Are there really sound reasons behind going on trips as a family or have we merely gotten used to the idea of doing so? I was thinking about this yesterday and I wrote down some notes on why I think family vacations are important. Here they are.
Family vacations are good for the health
I am talking about both physical and emotional health here. We all know that our daily lives are permeated by stress. This is especially true for the parents who have to juggle all sorts of responsibilities day in and day out. Now this stress does not remain solely with the parents – they can in fact be transmitted to their children. One way to get away from this stressful situation is to go on a trip and wash that tension away.
On the physical side, trips to destinations that have a healthier atmosphere always help. A beach or mountain vacation, especially, can be beneficial to the physical health of everyone in the family. This is why we often refer to vacation time as the time to renew and refresh ourselves.
The bottom line is this – we all need breaks and if we do not take them, the rigors of daily living will take their toll one of these days. I think this applies to both adults in the work place and children in school.
I’ll outline a couple more reasons in the next post.
