Unique Vacations

July 10, 2008 By noemi

Are you tired of the “regular” vacations that you always have? Don’t get me wrong, I really love going to beach and become a normal beach bum for a week. I’d also love to go to the mountains and relax like any other person. Sometimes, though, I get this hankering to do something weird. Aside from the experience itself, you get to have unique stories to tell your friends. I read this article at the Ottawa Citizen which details some of the most unique vacations that you can have. Let’s take a look at them.

The Great Whipped Cream Battle — Olomouc, Czech Republic

Fluff flies during this highlight of Olomouc’s week-long city festival. “Volunteers are divided into opposing teams and asked to arm themselves with trays of cream. There’s a countdown and then the teams rush towards each other. When the teams meet each other in the centre, the cream starts to fly.”

Oooh, I think this would be a really good stress buster! Make sure you bring your partner with you and when you disagree, you can just throw whipped cream at each other rather than fighting! Once the battle is over, you still have a lot of things to do and places to see. The Czech Republic has a lot to offer, after all.

The Modern Toilet Restaurant — Taipei, Taiwan

Find good food for less than $10 at this Taipei eatery — provided you don’t mind eating out of a (replica) toilet bowl.

“Eating here was a very unique dining experience to say the least. You are seated at a bathtub (your table) surrounded by toilets (your seats). Your food comes in your own sizzling toilet bowl.”

Now I don’t know about this. I have a particularly delicate stomach and even the thought of eating in a toilet bowl – albeit a replica – does not attract me at all. How about you?
