Dealing with Jetlag and Climate Changes

September 24, 2010 By Zahir

Jetlag Bug

People who love to travel are already used to the different time zones that most countries have. Sudden changes in the time and weather may prove to be a problem on adjusting to such if a person is not used to such fast paced evolution and lifestyle.

For people, traveling to any part of the world such as the United States, Europe and Asian continents would need body clock adjustments as well. The cultural practices and traditions are not the only immediate things that globetrotters should worry about but rather their ability to cope up with change.

Climate also entails being ready for the level of health a person is able to sustain. Sudden changes like cold and hot temperatures would need standby requirements of medicine or clothing just in case to ensure that the human body does not suffer a sudden burst of bodily reaction towards such external factors of nature from any part of the world that they may want to visit.

Why You Should Travel In Winter

September 20, 2008 By noemi

Practically every travel site will tell you NOT to travel during the holiday period, especially in winter during Christmas. It is common sense, really. This is considered peak season and most everywhere you go, peak season means two things:

-everyone else is traveling
-all the prices go up.

So why am I suddenly proposing that you travel this winter? Am I going nuts? Not really. I recently read an article by Christopher Elliot and I find myself agreeing with some of what he talked about.

First, for those in the United States, things are bound to get better once the elections are over with. I believe that I am not being over optimistic about things. It is just that Americans – and the world, perhaps – have had it with the current administration. The goal of these candidates, then, is to keep to their word and give Americans the break that they have been promising. One of these is that they would go to great lengths to lower the price of fuel. If only for this, traveling this winter should prove to be cheaper for us travelers.

Second, there are more price cuts in the travel industry than we may know. In fact, according to the article, Caribbean cruises are quite affordable now. You can find cruises which will cost you as low as $600 or $700! This is due to many factors but whatever is causing the price drop – as long as they are not safety issues – then you might as well go ahead and take advantage of it.

Royal Caribbean Cruise

September 10, 2007 By noemi

One of the major cruise companies in the United States, Royal Caribbean International has a good program for children in their family cruises. Realizing that the market for family cruises has grown considerably over the years – and is continuing to grow, actually – this cruise line offers quite an extensive array of activities for families with children.

Onboard, you can be sure that you and your children will have plenty of things to do without them asking every minute “Are we there yet?” They have ice-skating, karaoke, talent shows, bingo tournaments, and a family disco. Of course they have pools – some of which have special features such as the FlowRider, which is a wave simulator. If you are a golfing family, you can even play golf onboard. Rock climbing is also available. Of course, the availability of specific activities depend on the ship.

They also offer shore and land excursions that are specifically geared towards children. Most of the trips on land are on beaches and there are different activities that are children friendly. They also offer different programs for different age groups.

If you have babies and toddlers, you will be happy to note that Royal Caribbean offers Fisher Price Playgroups. These are sessions wherein children from 6 months to 36 months of age can interact with other children. Each session lasts for 45 minutes. Your kid has to have a companion during the sessions, though.

One of the best things about Royal Caribbean is that they offer babysitting services so that you can take some time for yourselves. You can avail of group babysitting or private babysitting services. For more information, visit their site here.

Top Getaways This Summer (Part 2)

June 6, 2007 By noemi

Vacations are all about getting away from the mundane things of daily living. Yet if you think about it, a vacation can be more than that, especially if you have kids. Why not consider your summer vacation to be an educational activity as well? If you are into nature and the outdoors and would like to share this passion with your children, national parks are a good idea for a summer getaway. Visiting and even staying in a national park will teach your children appreciation for nature and give them a chance to roam around free. In the United States, families have a wide array of choices for national parks. Though in other countries there may be more limited choices, a visit or two to a national park can always be factored in during your summer vacation.

Russia is another top getaway for this summer. Though this country is well known for its harsh winter, summertime in Russia totally transforms the whole place. More than the sights, spending time in Russia can open the eyes of the whole family to a different perspective, a different culture. Treat the family to views of the Kremlin and the Red Square and throw in bits and pieces of history in there as well.

Last, but not the least, try Wyndham Hotels in Jamaica. The country itself is rife with resorts that offer deals for families but the Wyndham Hotels is famous for its Spongebob Summer Splash Parties. If your children love Spongebob and the water, then this place is the perfect getaway.
