3 Reasons To Choose A Resort Over A Hotel

January 14, 2019 By Cosi Fry

If you are considering planning a trip somewhere, one of the first things that you’re going to have to figure out is where you’re going to be staying. While you do have a lot of options for places that can qualify as a home base for you while traveling or on vacation, there are some choices that are going to be more appealing than others. So if you’re on the fence about whether you should start looking up hotels or checking out some other options, here are three reasons you should consider staying at a resort over anything else available to you.

The Recreation Aspect

Some of the options that you may be considering when booking lodging for your trip could include things like hotels, hostels, rental homes, camping, couch surfing, and more. And although some of these options have positive qualities to them, none of them can offer what a resort can offer you, especially when it comes to the recreation aspect. According to Koshal of DifferenceBetween.com, resorts have the capabilities to give you access to recreation and relaxation amenities that you just can’t get from your typical hotel or rental property. So if you’re wanting to stay somewhere where the grounds and amenities are all part of the experience, a resort is perfect for you.

An All-Inclusive Price

At most resorts, almost everything that you receive or have access to all comes at an all-inclusive price. While there are some resorts that will charge you for additional things, “all-inclusive” resorts tout their abilities to provide you with everything you could need all for the upfront price that you’re paying. Not only can this help to encourage you to take advantage of anything and everything the resort has to offer you, but Susan Breslow Sardone, a contributor to Trip Savvy, shares that these types of resorts can also make it easier than ever for you to stick to your budget. By knowing what all your costs are going to be before you get to your accommodations, it can reduce a lot of the financial stress that comes with traveling.

Better Security

Resorts are often located on large campuses that have all type of out buildings, clubhouses, lodges and more that make up the entirety of the property. Because of this, Michael Lewis, a contributor to Money Crashers, shares that resorts often have better security on their property and to their rooms than other forms of lodging. Especially if you’re traveling to an area that has civil unrest or high levels of crime, you may find yourself feeling much safe at a resort than any other available room.

If you’re about to book a stay somewhere, consider choosing a resort over the other lodging options you may have chosen before.

Luxury Travel: Bucket List Targets

January 8, 2018 By Carmen Esate

Not everyone is going to have a chance to do luxury travel regularly. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth putting certain high-class journeys on your bucket list. Even if you never necessarily make it to do some of those things, at least having a daydream about how enjoyable it would be can get you through otherwise dull days.

Think about luxury journeys like getting on a yacht in Miami, or staying at a hotel in Disney World. Perhaps you’d like to go on a ski resort adventure sometime or take a private jet to some island location. These sorts of travel fantasies are prevalent, and it is possible that you can do one of them some of them with the right planning. [Read more…]

5 Things to Consider Before Purchasing a TimeShare

September 21, 2015 By Louise

For many people, the idea of owning a vacation home in a tropical paradise is a dream come true. Unfortunately, the cost of maintaining the property and being able to afford it usually come between you and your dream. For many individuals, dreams become reality when timeshares step in. A timeshare is basically a property purchase that allows you to own a place for a small section of the year. Included here are a few things you will want to consider before you commit to a timeshare.

Lower Cost Maintenance

One reason many people make the leap for a timeshare is due to the lower cost of maintaining a vacation property. Often, you will only have to pay for any repairs or maintenance due during the week of your stay. This means no money wasted maintaining a home that is empty for most of the year. [Read more…]

Reasons Why Palm Springs is a Must-Visit Destination

March 20, 2013 By Louise

When one hears the area called Palm Springs, what often comes to mind are the palm trees that line up the streets. It’s also a well known place where many famous celebrities reside and where films are often shot since the 1930s.

Situated in the state of California, specifically in the Riverside County, the term Palm Springs was first used by U.S. topographical engineers in the 1853 maps. Its other names in the past were Palmetto Spring and Big Palm Springs.

This desert city was developed into a resort in the 1900s and today boasts of various types of resorts and Palm Spring hotels visited by numerous tourists each year. The luxurious El Mirador Hotel that opened in 1927 was the first to attract bigtime movie stars. Its major feature was its Renaissance style tower standing at 68-feet high.

Celebrity Residents

Through the years, the so-called movie colony neighborhoods were set up in the city which attracted celebrities who preferred to reside there away from the busy lifestyle of Los Angeles. The late Bob Hope was one of the big stars who bought an estate in Palm Springs.

Banyan Tree Ringha’s Lost Horizon

July 16, 2010 By Zahir

Like the Aman-junkies (devoted Aman resort followers who langorously troupe from one luxury Aman resort to another), Banyan-junkies are now flocking to the latest Banyan Tree hotel high up in the mountains of Yunnan, China which opened this month.

Amid a Tibetan-style atmosphere of meditative Buddhist temples, prayer flags and gorgeous mountain views, the hotel is located a gasping (literally) 10,500 feet above sea level in a beautiful part of Sothwestern China in between Tibet, Myanmar and China’s Sichuan province.

The rooms are massive and decorated rather somberly with dark woods and large splashes of Chinese red lacquer and quilted curtains teeming with Tibetan flavour. The smallest room of the hotel, the Tibetan suite sprawls at 2,200 square feet and all the other rooms of the hotel are likewise on two floors.

The bathrooms are equally grand and spa-like in size, with more lacquer and tubs so large that one guest reported that his actually took over an hour to fill. To be expected are the mod cons easily found in most top hotels and resorts these days – the dvd and cd players, satellite television and high-speed internet to perhaps keep up with your blogging away from home.

There are two restaurants and a tea house to choose from, serving Chinese, Tibetan and Western cuisine. Of course, you could also choose the in-room dining option which is served until late in your room or in the romantic privacy of your courtyard garden.

The reason why this resort is so special (and near the top of my list of hotels to visit) is not its opulent comforts, but in its location, location, location. For the Banyan Tree Ringha is set in what James Hilton so wonderfully described in one of my favourite novels, “Lost Horizon” – reportedly Shangri La itself.

And after a hard day’s trekking and exploring (by four-wheel-drive) with one of the hotel’s expert guides, you can then treat yourself to a gloriously exotic-sounding treatment at the resort spa – perhaps a rice wine bath followed by a black sesame scrub to prepare you for another day in the Himalayan paradise.
