It is probably quite obvious right now that my trip to Thailand captivated me – it is quite true. In the seven days that we were there, we were able to do so many things. One of the most tiring yet fun things that we did was to go shopping. Thailand is actually is a haven for shopaholics. To be honest, I am one of those people who just dislike shopping in general. However, people kept telling us that we should not miss the weekend market in Bangkok. They call it the Chatuchak Market.
So on our first full day there – still tired from the flight and with only 4 hours of sleep – we excitedly took the Skytrain and headed off to the Mo Chit station. From there, one could walk to the Market. The first thing that I remember is the heat. The early morning heat and humidity was unbelievable! Yet that was all ignored once the sights, sounds, and smells of the humongous market assailed my senses.
Thousands of stalls selling anything and everything make the market the ultimate experience for any shopper. I heard someone say that even if you walked around for hours everyday, you would not be able to visit each and every stall in a month! Now I don’t know about that, but I am sure that we only covered a small portion of the place.
Words can barely paint a picture of what one can expect from a visit to Chatuchak. It is something that you should experience for yourself.
