If you’re travelling to Dublin for the first time, you’re in for a real treat. There’s no better place to discover the wonders of Ireland than the capital itself. However, I doubt you want to spend all of your time in the traditional Irish pubs (although the range of beers on offer can make it tempting). In between pub crawling, the following ideas should help you experience Dublin to the fullest:
The Guinness Factory at St. James Gate
Learning all about Guinness is kind of like you’re still in the pub, right? Even if you don’t particularly have a taste for Guinness, or an interest in the drink, this place is well worth a visit. I can’t stress that enough! I guarantee that by the end of this interesting tour, you’ll love the story of Guinness and have an urge to drink some. You’ll learn all about Guinness’ backstory, the ingredients, how it’s made, and even get to taste some Guinness fresh from the factory. Once you’ve made your way about half way round, you can stop for some lunch – Guinness stew and Guinness bread, of course! You have the option to learn how to pour the perfect pint of Guinness too, where you get a certificate for your achievement. If you choose not to do that, you can have a free pint once you’ve made your way to the top of the tower, which gives you fantastic views of Dublin. Tremendous photo opportunities!
Sample an Irish Coffee
Just about every pub in Dublin serves a good Irish coffee. It’ll perk you up while still giving you the warmth that only Irish whisky can achieve. If that’s not your thing, then try a Bailey’s coffee instead. You’ll be talking in an Irish accent in no time!
Shop for Souvenirs
Just about every stall in Dublin contains cool souvenirs for yourself or as a gift. There’s the beautiful traditional Claddagh ring, designed to give to a loved one. If you were ever a Buffy The Vampire Slayer Fan, this is the same style of ring that Angel gave to Buffy! There are also plenty of other things to choose from if rings aren’t your thing. Make sure you shop around though, as some stalls are considerably cheaper than others even though they sell the same things. Aside from the stalls, there are shops like Topshop and the Disney Store if you want to do some high street spending. You’ll need to drop your bags off at the hotel before you’re ready for the night though, so make sure you pick somewhere close by, like the hotels on Venere.com.
Dublin Zoo
Dublin zoo is one of the best zoos in all the world. How do I know? Beyonce and Jay-z recently visited with their baby daughter, so it must be good – right? You could see the same giraffe’s that Beyonce herself laid eyes on! Putting the celebrity power couple aside for a sec, this is a great activity for groups with kids.
