After watching The Polar Express several years ago, what child wouldn’t want to ride a train (or two) this Christmas? Even before that animated film became really popular, children have always had a certain attraction to train rides. This Christmas, why not take them on one? There are many places in the U.S. where you can take the family for a short trip and enjoy Christmas train rides.

Of course, after that movie, what can we expect? There are many recreations of the scenes from the movie and your children will definitely love the experience. You can listen to the telling of the classic story while aboard the train. Enjoy hot chocolate drinks and cookies as well. Of course, at the end of the journey, the children will get to meet Santa himself. Visit the Polar Express web site for more specific details.

In Essex, CT, they have a Steam Train Santa Special. The train for this purpose is decorated with all sorts of “Santa things.” During the ride, appearances by Santa and his wife, Rudolph, and Christmas bear are the highlights. There are also gifts directly given by Santa and his elves for each child.

Santa’s Surprise Trains run on the Middletown and Hummelstown Railroad in Middleton, PA. There is a daytime and a nighttime ride. Santa visits with the kids in the former and in the latter, children go to the North Pole to look for Santa. This is perfect for those who also want to visit Hershey Park as is it quite near.
