Family Vacation Destinations That May Not Have Crossed Your Mind

LegoLand
What is the first thing that comes to mind when talking about kid-friendly vacations? If you are anything like majority of families, you’d probably say something related to Disney. There is no doubt about it – Disney is the premier choice for kid-oriented vacations. However, I also have never doubted that there are countless other destinations out there – one only has to look.

Apparently, John Frenaye, a travel columnist at MSNBC has the same idea. He published an article entitled “6 sure-fire destinations for family.” In it, he details 6 destinations that may not be the first choice for families when it comes to vacations. Let’s take a look at them:

San Diego
Go to the world famous zoo, go to beach, or visit LegoLand.

Chicago
City lovers will be thrilled to take their children around Chicago – oh Frenaye swears that their pizza is the best in the US. You can also go swimming at Lake Michigan in the summer.

Maui
What can you do in Hawaii? Go to the beach of course! You can also take the kids whale watching and do a host of activities.

Vancouver, British Columbia
Perfect for winter activities! There is also a lot to discover in this city up north – from nature tripping to cultural activities. You can also get your fill of water activities – swimming aside.

Steamboat, Colorado

Again, perfect for the winter. Hit the slopes with the whole family while on vacation or relax at the Strawberry Park Hot Springs.

Cruising
Going on a cruise is always a fun way to explore the world beyond your normal horizons. We’ve had several features on this (Disney included) if you want more information.
