Think back to the time when you were a childless couple. Perhaps this would have been the first few years of your marriage. Did you love to travel then? Probably. When you traveled, who did you travel with? Did you go on your own or did you go with other friends?
I am sure that you had vacations wherein it was just the two of you – the classic romantic getaway. Yet I am also sure that there were times when you preferred traveling with other people – single friends or couples. This could have been for various reasons. For one, it could be a lot cheaper to travel in groups. Another reason would be that a trip can simply be more enjoyable if you had friends to share the experience with. Safety could be another reason.
The same concepts apply when it comes to family travel, I think. Have you ever thought of going on a vacation with other families? Perhaps you already have. If so, you would know that it is a different experience on its own.
It is true that it could pose some logistic complications – going on a trip with children of your own can prove to be a juggling act already, what more with several sets of kids? Yet you also have to realize that you will have more sets of parents as well! This could prove to be handy when it comes to handling the kids.
Try it for yourself – get together with other families and see what you can work out between you all.
