One thing I didn’t really mind when I was a kid was packing. To me packing simply meant throwing in all my favorite clothes in my bag as well as bringing some of my favorite toys and a good book. It was really easy. But now I realize that it was easy because my mom was the one who really had to pack everything for the family. She packed the toiletries, towels, extra food, and anything else we might need for the trip. In case I forgot something
all I needed was to ask my mom if she brought it with her and she almost always did.
Now that I have a family of my own I absolutely abhor packing (not to mention unpacking). I marvel at how moms did all the packing and still have the energy to make sure everybody is comfortable during the trip. I know it is about organization and packing early and all
that but the truth is I usually end up going “oh I’m sorry I forgot…” when my husband asks me for something, which puts me in a really sour mood. With much effort, planning ahead, plenty of mistakes, and lots of practice I AM starting to get the hang of it though. Next post I will be sharing some tips on packing.
