A family trip can be a relatively expensive proposition because you’re traveling as a group – and you’ve got your kids in tow. While staying in a hotel is the obvious choice for accommodations, serviced apartments are a better option because you get more space for relatively cheaper rates.
If you’re planning a trip with your family and you want to book a stay at a serviced apartment, here are some things you should consider:
- Look for serviced apartments that are accessible to public transportation. This is quite important especially if you travel with small children. Being near public transportation hubs like a taxi stand or the mass transit station will make it easier for you to go from one place to another and also make it easy to get home.
- Talk to the apartment manager for special arrangements if you are going to travel with a baby or a toddler. If you need a steriliser, a booster seat or a crib talk to the apartment manager and find out if they can provide these items for you. There are some apartments that can provide these items but usually at extra cost.
- Even though linens and towels are provided for your stay, a family usually goes through more towels or bed linens especially when there are children. Ask about how frequency of linen changes and delivery of fresh towels and if you think the frequency is not enough try to ask to do it more often. Again, this may entail additional costs.
- Unlike hotels, cleanups are not usually done on a daily basis. This can be a cause for concern with kids in the place. You can ask for a more frequent cleanup schedule. But if that is not possible make sure that there are some cleaning tools available so you can clean up the apartment on your own. Inquire if the apartment has a broom, rags and other cleaning implements and if it’s not available ask for it before your stay.
