Upcoming Food Festivals in The U.S.

September 19, 2007 By noemi

In the last post I was talking about the idea of hitting the road to look for good and cheap eats with the family. It got me looking at different food festivals all across the United States. Who knows, there might be one near you?

Oktoberfest, Big Bear Lake, California
This festival is held annually at Big Bear Lake. This year it is slated to run from September 15 till October 27 – yup, it has started. Experience authentic German food and beer and music as well. There are also other activities such as log sawing contests, slam beer drinking, and stein carrying. There will be an area for children as well as polka dancing. Prepare $10 to enter on Saturdays and $5 on Sundays.

Weekend Along Farm Trails, Sonoma County, California

It is the Sonoma Country Farm Trails’ 35th anniversary this year and they are offering farm tours, winery harvests, produce samplings, and seminars on the 29th and 30th of September. You can enjoy the rural ambiance as you go around the countryside interacting with the locals and farmers.

Flavor Fest, Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Going farther up north and towards the east, you can visit the Flavor Fest in Pennsylvania. There is one more remaining date – November 14. The idea is to watch a Broadway show and get free admission to the food fest where restaurants will be setting up shop to offer samples of their fare. The show ticket costs $37.

There are a couple more festivals coming up, let’s look at them in the next post.
