Why Do You Take Vacations? (Part 2)

family bonding
In the last post, we focused on the health benefits of taking vacations – both physically and mentally. Here are some more reasons that I think taking vacations are beneficial to everyone in the family.

Vacations provide the opportunity for play and fun

You may be thinking, “You think?” Yeah, I know it is pretty obvious but think about it, sometimes, the obvious is not that obvious to us. Swamped with the mundane tasks of our everyday lives, sometimes the humorous and the fun sides of life tend to be overwhelmed. This is particularly true for those parents who work really hard and children who are pressured to do well in school. Haven’t you noticed that when on vacation, everyone tends to be more lighthearted and thus more open to fun and playfulness? I have noticed this in my family. We have our differences and difficult times together but when we are on vacation, everyone just seems happier and funner!

Vacations provide the opportunity for bonding
Yeah, bonding may sound cheesy but every family needs this time. Of course, bonding time need not be during vacations only. However, as I mentioned above, people seem to be more open to other (more emotional, shall we say) things. This is as compared to being at home, doing the same old things, being in the same old location. That is why when choosing a vacation destination, you should bear in mind a place that everyone will feel comfortable in. This will open the doors for quality time spent with each other as a family.
