Phuket has become an island for families, with the sheer number of kid-friendly resorts massive! First in line is the Holiday Inn Resort, which has dedicated family and kids rooms. The kids suites, pictured above, come with the coolest themed furniture (my daughter would kill for that boat bed) and are equipped with games, cds, playstations and toys. On top of that there’s a Kids Club, and Club 12 Plus for sulky teenagers who want to have some parent-free time.
The JW Mariott Phuket Resort and Spa on the island has a new Circus Training programme guaranteed to delight kids aged 4-12. Run by a US circus company, the programme has three age groups and training involves swinging trapeze, juggling, pyramid building, tumbling and clowning. On friday nights, your young circus preformers can show off their new skills at the grand finale circus show of the resort. Integrated with the Marriott’s Phuket beach club, families can stay in the comfy villas complete with children’s rooms, and the whole family can enjoy the wonderful facilities which include a bubble pool and water slide. There is a Kid’s Clubs too, of course, which have some unique educational programmes as well.
In Koh Samui, the Banana Fan Sea Resort on Chaweng beach has newly renovated, zen-inspired rooms and offers a relaxed and affordable stay for families with young children. For parents whose kids are finikety, the resort’s delicious kids-eat-for-free buffets and kids menu (crayons included) make meals well worth it. Aside from its prime beachfront location, the resort also has a kiddie pool and playground on the sand, the only one on Chaweng beach.
