Not everyone wants to travel in the typical way. If you’ve ever been called an oddball, or a loner, or your friends have wondered why you have some unusual form of wanderlust, then you know that maybe what you’re looking for is a little bit different than the average bear. So, that might mean that you’re looking for an alternative form of travel.
Instead of a typical vacation, maybe you want to take some real time off and travel by mobile home, tiny house, in a van, by a motorcycle with a tent, or even by foot. All of these options might get some raised eyebrows, but they can all be extremely fulfilling as well.
By Mobile Home
If you look into the history of mobile homes, they were initially for people who actually wanted to travel with the house. So, even though they’re definitely not necessarily a luxury item anymore (though they can be!), if you buy a mobile home, there’s nothing stopping you from traveling wherever you want simply by hooking it up to a truck and going. You obviously have to make sure that everything inside it is as secure as possible as you’re traveling the countryside, but you’ll never be far from your amenities.
In Tiny Houses
Similar to the idea of a mobile home, if you make a tiny house, that gives you even more options in terms of traveling. Because laws are a little bit different when it comes to tiny houses, and you can also hook them up to smaller vehicles as opposed to the bigger mobile homes, that means that you have a lot of extra options as to where you want to go. In addition, if you don’t necessarily have to have hookups for electricity or sewer, which you can use to your advantage.
Via the Van
Even though we’re not living in the 1960s anymore, you still always have an option of living out of a van. For people who are fed up with certain types of commercial lifestyles, simply buying a really nice van and getting a few interesting people to travel with may be exactly the ticket that you need to have a successful extended vacation.
By Motorcycle and Tent
For the super light traveler, you can purchase a motorcycle and a tent. Ride along the roadway for as far as you want, pull over to the side, and pitch a tent where nobody’s going to bother you. There’re people who have made very interesting adventures out of this pathway, and the stories they have to tell when they’re finished are usually amazing.
By Foot
A final option for alternative traveling is to simply go by foot. Though this might be a little bit more difficult in industrialized areas, there are always places to walk around. If you want to return to their original state of humankind, there’s nothing stopping you except buying a good pair of boots.
