Soon, this famous Star Trek quote will no longer only be used during sci-fi conventions. In time, we may soon hear this catch phrase used as a common term among budding hoteliers. In outer space, that is.
Galactic Suite, which is predicted to come to completion by 2012, is the first ever hotel in outer space. It may sound a little strange and impossible but we have certainly come a long way, haven’t we? In fact, a fellow writer recently wrote about an unusual hotel that sits under the sea. Ever since the beginning of time, humankind has sought ways to reach for the heavens. Why should building a hotel in outer space be any surprising? Perhaps, the age for keeping up with “The Jetsons” isn’t really that far behind.
A three-day stay at the Galactic Suite will supposedly cost around $ 4 million. Hefty tag? Then again, will three days in an Earth-based hotel give you an unparalleled view of the sun rising? Fifteen times a day? Just imagine how magnificent that view will be. Plus, reports say that guests will have the ability to walk around on walls because they’ll be sporting Velcro suits to help them move around.
The hotel will basically look like a molecule structure and a space shuttle will remain affixed to the pods for as long as there are guests to help alleviate the fear of outer space.
This Galaxy Suite will certainly serve as a paradise to those who seek peace and tranquility in their lives. Big-time celebrities who are always hounded by the paparazzi, for example, will probably have no qualms of shelling out the estimated amount just to get away from it all. Then again, there is really much more to the Galaxy Suite than just peace and tranquility. Just to be able to see something from a different point of view brings humankind to another level altogether.
If this hotel becomes successful as planned, we may be looking at opportunities that rival the infinite number of stars in the universe.
