My world paused last July 21. For the readers who just came from another planet, that’s the day the seventh, and final installment of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series was released. On that day, and the next, I closeted myself in the bedroom, refused to answer any calls, and only came out for meals and the occasional bathroom break. Yes, being a self-confessed rabid Potter fan, I spent the day with my beloved Harry, straining my eyes, trying to find out how Harry would get rid of Lord Voldemort once and for all.
Now that I’ve finally satisfied my curiosity (don’t worry, I’m not going to give out any spoilers!), I still find myself unable to let go of the book’s characters. It’s like a dream I keep wanting to go back to, a desire that hasn’t been quite satisfied yet. I’m sure fellow Potter fans will empathize with the withdrawal symptoms I’m experiencing. There’s no place I want to visit as much as Hogwarts and the wizarding world.
Imagine my delight when I heard about a theme park based on Harry Potter! In a media statement released last May 31, Universal Orlando Resort announced their partnership with Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. to create the world’s first fully immersive Harry Potter themed environment. Envisioned as a “theme park within a theme park” and titled “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” the new environment will become part of the experience within Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort.
